Began
The Rise of communism began when Karl Marx a german born socialist and Friedrich Engels a german philosopher and businessman. These two men made and published the "Communist Manifesto" saying that all working men were to go against middle class. There were two parts of the Russian Revolutions, February Revolution (March 1917) and the October Revolution(November 1917). The February revolution was when serfs rioting over fuel and food causing Czar, Emperor in 1917, to resign. After Czar left the Communist Party took control of the government, the Communist party is led by Vladimir Lenin. Then soon, according to the textbook it was 1922, the Communist party had changed over time by electing new people and then expanded and it was then known as USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics) or, for short, Soviet Union.
Evolved
After Vladimir Lenin died, Joseph Stalin became the next leader of USSR in 1878 Joseph Stalin became the head of USSR, and transformed USSR into an "industrial and military superpower". During his cold reign he turned the economy into a command economy, forcing farms into collective Farming. Basically, he created satellite nation. From 1889-1945, Joseph Stalin signed a "nonaggression pact" with Hitler I mean HITLER!!! Then Hitler broke the "nonaggression pact" and attacked Moscow, which is where USSR headquarters are located. Joseph Stalin fought them with the Red Army after burning all of their resources in fear it might help Hitler if he won. During this dark time the Cold War, the tension between the Allied Power, took place. Although the two superpowers, United states, and the soviet union, lead "Proxy Wars" such as the Space Race and the Arms Race.
Ended
The soviet union supplied all its 15 republics with everything thing they needed, but the people wanted more modern things. When Gorbachev came into the USSR, he changed a lot and I mean a lot of things, more freedom to vote, etc. As some of the 15 republics decided to break from the soviet union, Gorbachev decided to continue to with a democracy way of ruling. Gorbachev continued to be the president of the soviet union as they decreased in size and soon it had the same amount of power as all the countries around had equal power. Russia president, Boris Yeltsin, wanted more power and more but because of that Gorbachev drafted a new more lenient USSR. Before Gorbachev could put in place the new USSR, eight "headliner" members of the CPSU launched a campaign called Civil Resistance and it failed. On Christmas Eve 1991, Gorbachev resigned and the Soviet Union was no longer.
