April 2021
5 Day In Person Learning Starts April 26
We are excited to be able to offer 5 days of in-person learning beginning April 26th. Our whole staff is busy preparing for students to return every day. We will still be following established safety guidelines in order to ensure the safest return to school for everyone. Please be sure to check emails from Battle Ground Public Schools as well as from Maple Grove Primary during April so that you have the latest, most up-to-date information.
Schedule
Primary school - 9:40 a.m.–3:40 p.m. (Wednesday 9:40 a.m.–2:40 p.m.)
Specialist classes will be taught to remote students 9:10–9:50 a.m.
We changed to early release on Wednesdays (for teacher professional development) to keep mornings consistent for families and better accommodate building schedules.
You also may notice that the days are 30 minutes shorter than they have been in past years. We have set aside this time so that teachers can respond to and support students and families.
Primary remote learning
In the primary grades, remote learning and screen time will be age appropriate. Besides their teachers, specialists also will Zoom with remote primary students. If your child will continue to learn remotely, you will receive schedule information directly from your child's teacher.
April 21 teachers unavailable for learning activities
In preparation for the transition to 5-day in-person learning, teachers will not be available on Wednesday, April 21 for learning activities and assistance. This day has been set aside for them to prepare their classrooms for 5-day learning. Students will work independently on their assignments.
Teacher Changes
If your child's teacher will be changing on April 26th because of our return to 5-day in-person learning, you will receive a phone call from building administration early next week. We are working to create balanced classrooms where students can be 3 feet apart, in alignment with new safety regulations.
Transportation
Bus routes will be updated to accommodate the change to 5-day learning. New routes will be posted by April 22. We are still in need of bus drivers. If you know someone who might be interested in a part-time job, please let them know about the need for bus drivers. More information is online at sticareers.com.
Parent Drop Off and Pick Up
If you will be driving your child to and from school, please click on the MGP parking lot map below to you know the flow of traffic ahead of time. Students who are driven to school should be dropped off no earlier than 15 minutes before the start of the school day.
Meals
Students will eat breakfast and lunch in the cafeteria. If parents choose, students can get a free and nutritious breakfast and lunch provided through the USDA Meals Program.
Curbside pickup will be available for remote students, but locations and hours will change beginning April 26. Please watch for more information.
Flexibility
The trade off of being in the classroom is that classes may need to temporarily flip back to remote learning when there is a COVID-19 exposure at school. Students will also be expected to comply with health and safety requirements. Please understand that the implementation of these health and safety protocols will help keep everyone safe and prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
Please return Chromebooks April 26th
