Class of 2022 Weekly Review
Week of October 12, 2020
A Note from Mrs. Opdyke
I can't tell you how great it is seeing our students back in the building! It's been energizing and exciting! While this school year is so incredibly different from others, having that bit of normalcy back in our day has been awesome! I want to thank each and every one of you for helping to make those days truly successful.
As we have transitioned to the Hybrid model, I would like to ask each of you to take a moment and complete our survey this week. I'd like to ask your feedback on this newsletter. There are also some CB South trivia questions embedded in the survey. A winner will be selected from all who answer the trivia questions correctly and a prize will be given out later in the week. Surveys must be completed by midnight on Tuesday, October 13th to participate in the trivia drawing!
Mr. Monk, Mrs. Davis, Mr. Bui, and I will continue to be here to help in any way that we can. Please reach out if you need anything! However you are joining us for your classes, I wish you a successful week 6 of the school year.
Please stay healthy and well!
Mrs. Opdyke

Boomerang Awards
The CB Cares Boomerang Youth Recognition Award is a district-wide monthly program which recognizes and honors youth in our community for exemplifying and living by one of the chosen Developmental Assets for the school year. Please see the information below for October’s asset, as well as the attached nomination form and 20-21asset poster.
For October we are looking for nominees for the asset: Safety- Young person feels safe at home, school and in the neighborhood.
Nominations are due by end of day, October 23, 2020 to Matt Gale (magale@cbsd.org).
Please find the nomination form attached.
Don't forget - Students can nominate themselves or their friends too.
The Healthier Community Team made a suggestion that all nominations going forward should have an example of the asset in action in regard to the student, rather than just a description of the student that "he/she shows integrity all of the time". It is really helpful in terms of differentiating the nominees since they all are great kids - examples help make the choice easier.

Standardized Testing Timeline
October 17th – PSAT/NMSQT (Results in December)
December through June – Students should take the SAT and or the ACT at least one time along with SAT Subject tests if necessary. SAT and ACT are not required by all colleges and universities; however, it may be wise to take one or both at least once in the event your son or daughter decides to apply to a school that does require scores. SAT Subject tests are often required by more selective colleges and universities.
Register at:
SAT - collegegboard.org
ACT - act.org
AP course exams: The exams take place during the first two weeks of May. Students work with their current AP teacher in joining the AP class through their Collegeboard account. Payment for the exams will begin at some point in January.
