July: Month of the Most Precious Blood of Our Lord
July is dedicated to the Precious Blood of Our Lord. The feast of the Precious Blood dates back to 1849 by Pius IX, but the devotion is as old as Christianity. Our church was born from the pierced side of Christ, and the sacraments were brought forth through His Blood.
As a family during this month of July, say this prayer together to keep remembrance and devotion to Jesus:
Thank You, Lord, for shedding Your Blood for us. May the Water and Blood that came from the side of Jesus create a protecting fountain of grace, one which flows directly from the throne of God to us. Come, Lord, and fill us with Your Holy Spirit.
Mass Readings for Sunday, July 11: Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
In this weekend's Gospel, Jesus summons his 12 Disciples to go out into the world and spread his Word through teaching and healing. In the phrases of Mark's Gospel Reading, Jesus shares His messages of our faith.
Jesus tells his Disciples to "take nothing for the journey but a walking stick—no food, no sack, no money in their belts." When we leave our home for our daily activities, we know to bring our wallet, keys, phone, etc. But Jesus sends us out with less, inviting us to trust, to be ready to engage with and respond to the world around us.
Jesus also tells his Disciples, "Whatever place does not welcome you or listen to you, leave there and shake the dust off your feet in testimony against them.” Many people allow themselves to become defensive and protective, aware of slights and insults. Jesus invites his followers to shake off and leave behind resistance and unfriendliness. We ask Jesus to help us to keep our eyes on him and his heart rather than letting our hearts be restricted or narrow.
Jesus’ trust in us is breathtaking. Just as the Disciples, we are sent out each day to bring good news to those we engage with. Jesus, make me aware that you are with me wherever I go.

Jesus' Disciples: Fisher-of-Men Mobile
In this week's craft of the Fisher-of Men Mobile, this mobile demonstrates how Jesus' 12 Disciples loved, learned, and followed in Jesus. To create this craft, below are the directions:
- Using paper, cut out a crown and label it: Jesus. All that we believe comes from God and His son, Jesus, so this is the top of the mobile.
- Cut out 12 small "fish." Write the name of each of the 12 Disciples: Peter, Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James, Simon, Thaddeus, Judas
- Using string, attached the fish (Disciples) to the crown (Jesus).
