AMHS Weekly Update

September 18-22, 2023

4.5-Week Progress Reports

The 4.5-week progress reports were available to parents and students in Infinite Campus on Thursday, September 14th. We hope that you have had the opportunity to review your scholar's grades and set goals for improvement for the next 4.5-week period. Monitoring grades in Infinite Campus is extremely important for your student's success.

As a reminder, Career Pathway students must earn a 2.5-semester G.P.A., and Magnet students must earn a 3.0-semester G.P.A. to maintain satisfactory academic standing. Students falling below this G.P.A. requirement at the end of the Fall 2023 semester are in jeopardy of being placed on academic probation or being exited from the academic program. Encourage your child to calculate their current G.P.A. by using the instructions attached below. Please speak to your child about their current status in their courses and contact your student’s teacher if you have any questions regarding their progress in a course. Parent-teacher conferences will be held on Tuesday, October 3rd from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm.

At Arabia Mountain High School, we are committed to student and staff safety daily! Last week we began using our new Evolv weapon detection system. Please remind your students to remove their Chromebook/laptop, computer chargers, 3-ring binders, etc. from their bookbags prior to entering the school building. Attention 11th Grade Students and Parents

11th Grade Immunization Requirements

Before starting the 2021-2022 school year, all students entering or transferring into 11th grade will need proof of a meningococcal booster shot (MCV4), unless their first dose was received on or after their 16th birthday.

Note that this booster vaccine is required in addition to the MCV4 vaccine that was required for your child before his or her beginning 7th grade.

Meningococcal disease is a serious bacterial illness that affects the brain and the spinal cord. Meningitis can cause shock, coma, and death within hours of the first symptoms.

To help protect your children and others from meningitis, Georgia law requires students to be vaccinated against this disease unless the child has an exemption.

Additional Requirements

  • Certificates must be signed by a physician licensed in GA or a public health official. A stamp of a Physician’s signature is permissible when cosigned by an office staff member.
  • Certificates must have a printed typed or stamped name and address of the physician, health department, or Georgia Registry of Immunization Transactions and Services (GRITS) official issuing the certificate.
  • Certificates must have a complete date of issue with the month, day, and year.

Exemptions

In the state of Georgia, if there is a religious objection to the vaccination of a child, a completed affidavit on Form 2208 is required. After completion of the affidavit, the parent or legal guardian must have the form filed with the school or childcare facility the child will be attending as legal documentation of exemption from the required immunizations mentioned above.

Medical Waivers/Exemptions are a part of Georgia Form 3231 and are reviewed annually.

Please submit a copy of your student's updated immunization record to our school nurse, Ms. Hill, in the clinic by Friday, August 11th. You may also email a copy to our nurse at bettye_hill@dekalbschoolsga.org.

Please visit DCSD's Registration page for more information.
