Science Open House
We are excited to share an opportunity for our P-H-M community to review K-12 science resources. The Indiana Department of Education has updated our science standards to include the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). In order to provide quality resources to our teachers, we are reviewing several programs that are aligned to the updated standards. This open house provides an opportunity for teachers and families to review the resources and to provide feedback for consideration. We welcome you to visit the open house at the Learning Center at Schmucker Middle School (Door D) on Thursday, February 9th between 3:30-5:30 PM.
Scholastic Book Fair Coming to Elsie Rogers

It's Coming... One Book, One School
Take a look at the picture TEASER! Any ideas what we will be reading as a school this year? The school wide community read is coming soon - February 13 to be exact! Be on the lookout for some family literacy FUN headed our way!
Winter Weather
Cold weather is here...
Please remember to send children with adequate outerwear for recess. Outside recess generally occurs if the outside temperature (wind chill included) is above 0 degrees. Because children are on the playground for approximately 20-25 minutes after lunch, it is important that your child is dressed appropriately during the cold weather months: coat, hat, mittens, boots, and snow pants. Please remember to label your child's items!!
If the playground area is snow-covered and your child does not have snow pants and boots, they will have to remain on the shoveled pavement during recess.
Lost and Found
Is your child saying they can't find their winter coat, missing that new sweatshirt or gloves? Our Lost and Found is overflowing with items. If your child is missing an item, please have them check for it in the Cafeteria Lost and Found. If you would like to come in and look for your child's missing items, please call the office during school hours and let them know you'd like to stop by! Anything left after February 10th will be washed and donated.
P-H-M Young Author's Opportunity
Be sure to save the date for P-H-M's annual Young Authors' Conference for elementary students grades K-5. This year's event registration is FREE thanks to Superintendent Dr. Jerry Thacker & other generous #GivingTuesday donors to the P-H-M Education Foundation! Registration opens Monday, Jan. 30 so be sure to register early. Details at
