Tips for Navigating the Holidays during COVID Provided by EHS Co-Located Clinic, Associated Clinic of Psychology
It's already November (!), and I am sure many of you are starting to gear up for the holiday season. While the holidays are a time that we normally look forward to with excitement and anticipation, this year has placed some additional challenges on our shoulders. Long standing traditions may be changing with respect to COVID-19 and the new state guidelines related to gatherings, leading to worry, disappointment, and sadness. In order to approach this time of year with resilience, here are a few tools to help students and families cope.
Parents of Seniors with January 1st College Application Deadlines
The deadline for submitting requests for letters of recommendations or school reports to teachers and counselors so they can be completed before our Winter Break is Friday, December 4th. Students should plan accordingly as transcript requests are not processed over winter break.

ACT Test Prep
The attached video shares information about preparing for the ACT. The ACT Test Prep Program is a free and adaptive plan to meet your own needs for studying and potentially increasing your ACT score. Please watch the short video for more information and how to access this excellent resource.

Get individual help on your FAFSA from a financial aid officer. You do not need to be attending Inver Hills. They will help you get your FAFSA completed for any school. https://www.inverhills.edu/FinancialAid/index.aspx
Please have the following available when filling out the FAFSA:
Student and Parent Social Security Numbers
Your Alien Registration Number (if you are not a U.S. citizen)
Student and Parent 2019 federal income tax returns, including W2s and all schedules and attachments. (Note: You may be able to transfer your federal tax return information into your FAFSA using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool.)
Bank statements and records of investments (if applicable)
Records of untaxed income (if applicable)
An FSA ID to sign electronically for both student and one parent. Having this done in advance will help with the process but can also be completed during the session.

As this National Scholarship Month comes to a close, FASTWEB shares their 2021 College Scholarship List. This new article highlights scholarship opportunities now accepting applications. This is a tool to help students prepare to apply for scholarships for 2021.
