We're thrilled to share some highlights from JMS for this week.
STAR Renaissance Testing
National Hispanic Heritage Month
Thank you for your ongoing support!
STAR Renaissance
Star Assessments are short tests that provide teachers with personalized learning data for each student.
Star tests are computer adaptive, which means they adjust in difficulty to each answer students provide. This helps teachers get the best data to help students in the shortest amount of testing time (about one-third of the time other tests require).
Students may take a Star test for early literacy, math, or reading. Teachers analyze the data they receive from Star Assessments to learn what students already know and what they are ready to learn next, to monitor student growth, and to determine which students may need additional help.
Star Assessments are research-based and scientifically proven to help teachers guide each student on their unique path to proficiency.
6 Week Grading Period/ UIL Eligibility
Friday, September 22nd is the end of the 6 weeks grading period.
This grading period will mark the gain/loss of eligibility for UIL activities. Students will gain/lose eligibility on Friday, September 22th @ 4:00 pm (UIL grace period September 29)
The JISD grade percentages are 60% daily grades and 40% major grades..
Student Attendance
Absences/Attendance Regular school attendance is essential for a student to make the most of his or her education— to benefit from teacher led and school activities, to build each day’s learning on the previous day’s, and to grow as an individual.
When a student is absent, the student must bring a note to the attendance office within three days of the absence. After three days, parent notes may not be accepted and the absences will be considered unexcused. A maximum of three (3) parent notes per semester will be accepted as excused.
JMS Student Behavior Management Program-HERO
- What is Schoolmint Hero? Hero is student behavior management software for K-12 schools and districts, from Schoolmint. Hero's goal is to enable consistent redirection of negative behavior, reinforcement of positive behavior and communication between educators, students, parents, and administrators across classrooms school and district-wide.
