Galesburg High School
January Family Newsletter
A Message from Mr. Hawkins
Happy New Year to our students and families of Galesburg High School. We hope you had a restful break and were able to enjoy the holiday traditions. If you weren't into the holidays, well we hope everyone created the opportunity for some much-needed rest and relaxation.
If you haven't noticed, we have experienced much colder temperatures these past few weeks. If you have been a lifelong resident of the Midwest, temperatures fluctuate from time to time. Our hope is that students are always dressed appropriately for the current weather conditions. Although our students are older, they are still kids and sometimes leave their homes without enough protection from the elements of weather. Please help ensure that your student is dressed appropriately. If you need assistance finding a winter coat, please contact the school and ask to speak to one of our Outreach Workers.
Your student may have mentioned that they were recently assigned a locker at school. Students were assigned lockers during their Advocacy, and we have attempted to place students near their Advocacy teachers for the remainder of the school year. Unlike previous years, next year's returning students will most likely be assigned to a different locker, this is due to the inclusion of grades 7 and 8 on the second floor. Starting Term 3, all students will be required to place their coats and backpacks inside of their locker. This is for school safety and classroom space considerations.
In closing, I must stress the importance of regular student attendance at school. The staff at Galesburg High School wants your student in attendance. Working together, we can create a positive educational experience for your student.
