A Message From Our Principal, Mr. Bret Heller
Dear Viking Families,
It has been a busy and exciting first couple of weeks here at CHS! It is so great to have students back in the building and watching everyone engage in all things CHS. I've been so impressed by our students and look forward to continuing to get to know each of them. Our teaching staff has shown incredible commitment to doing what is best for our students and we have some great things happening in our classrooms!
The construction project is ongoing, and we have all eight of our new classrooms finished and being utilized daily! On the other side of the campus, the new entry, gymnasium, weight room and wrestling room continue to make progress toward completion in early November.
PSAT Day is October 10th, where all 9th through 11th grade students will take the PSAT. This is a big day in terms of our work to ensure that all students are college and career ready.
Lastly, I want to thank the CHS community for such a warm welcome back to Coeur d'Alene and CHS. This is an amazing place and I'm thrilled to be home.
Once a Viking, Always a Viking!
Bret Heller - Principal

PSAT Day
Students in grades 9-11 will be taking the PSATs on October 10, 2018.
The PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Achievement Test) offers two unique opportunities students. First, PSAT score helps show today’s best colleges and universities that students have what it takes to succeed. Second, the test helps students sharpen their test-taking skills for the SAT exam taken during their junior year. The test includes the same types of multiple choice questions found on the SAT Reasoning Test.
Students in grades 10 and 11 will be taking the PSAT/NMSQT exam. These students have received a study guide and practice test.
Students in grade 9 will be taking the PSAT 8/9 exam. This is a new test given to better align with the current academic level of our 9th graders. There is no study guide for this exam. Students may access a practice test through the College Board website.
Interested in learning more about the PSAT and accesses practice tests? Check out the College Board website at https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/psat-nmsqt-psat-10
Seniors will have the opportunity to participate in college and career readiness sessions, as well as team building activities while the lower classman are taking the PSAT.
