History of Steamboats and Relation to North Dakota
After the design for the steam engine during the industrial revolution, the idea of traveling and transporting on the water was opened up to the public. The first steamboat was created in 1787 and provided the inspiration to continue the developing with newer and better improvements. In North Dakota there were steamboats not only on the Mississippi River but also the Red River. In 1858 there was a reward of 1000 dollars to who ever could put a steamboat on the Red River first. These Steamboats in ND carried cargo and people all over along the Rivers which led to expansion and ease of access to ports for trading all over the country from means of water ways.
