Hello Pershing Families,

The fun whirlwind of the end of the school year is upon us! As we near June, the weather continues to heat up. It is supposed to be very warm this Monday and Tuesday, so please encourage your student to bring a water bottle and a hat to school.

To add to the fun, the entire school joins our Kinder team this week with the ABC themed countdown with the following school spirit days:

Monday, 5/23: Pajama Day (Be sure to wear clothing you will not be overheated in!)

Tuesday, 5/24: Quiet Day (no specific gear for Q day!)

Wednesday, 5/25: Rainbow Day (Wear as many bright colors as you can!)

Thursday, 5/26: Stuffy Day (Bring a small stuffy to school.)

Friday, 5/27: T-shirt Day! (Wear your Kinder Pershing t-shirt, other Pershing gear, yellow, green or green/gold!)

VOLUNTEERS: We are looking for cleared parent volunteers to assist with the PTO Ice Cream Social on June 2nd, and our end-of-the-year Field Day the morning of June 3rd. If you were previously cleared to volunteer at Pershing, please update your records to clear again! Go online to start the process here: https://www.sanjuan.edu/volunteer

We continue to have increased COVID cases at our school. Please be sure you are continuing to screen students at home for symptoms and staying home if symptomatic. Contact our school office if you have questions and to notify us of any illness or COVID positive test results. For more information, please review the next paragraph below.

COVID-19 Information: For updated health related safety protocols, please visit the SJUSD District's COVID-19 Guide: https://www.sanjuan.edu/quarantine. Students, staff, and volunteers who have had any symptoms of possible COVID-19 must clear before returning to school, or quarantine for 10 days. We provide free testing for students, staff, and cleared volunteers almost every morning before school. Please arrive by 7:30a.m. to test at our school for free (students, staff, and cleared volunteers only) and be sure the person is registered at www.sanjuan.edu/preregister.

For those who did not sign up for their child to take home the free COVID-19 test kits for screening purposes, you may still pick up a test, as long as supplies last. Please visit the school office.

May 30: No School - Memorial Day

June 2: PTO Ice Cream Social for Students at 1:15p.m. through dismissal

Our PTO is bringing back the annual Ice Cream Social for our students this year! Free ice cream (or Popsicle) provided for each student.

June 3: Pershing Field Day (morning only) - Wear appropriate shoes for playing fun games in the field! Students self-select games and activities to join while we celebrate the end of another year of school together!

June 7: Last Day of School! Dismissal at 12:25p.m.

9a.m. - 6th Grade Promotion at the Outdoor Amphitheater, followed by brief reception in the multi-purpose room. Masks are strongly recommended, but not required.
