Louisiana Purchase

The Louisiana Purchase was bought in 1803. In total about 828,000,000 miles of land. We bought is from France. The french wanted to sell it because they had issues in Europe. The total cost came to $23.2 million dollars. That comes to about 4 cents per acre. This was considered to be one of the best deals on land. The one who made the deal was Thomas Jefferson. There was controversy about the way he purchased it because he didnt get the senates approval. The purchased opened up trade for America on the mississipi river.
