Students learning in-person at Sprague have opportunities throughout the day to take breaks and to enjoy the outdoors. These supervised breaks, sometimes with masks sometimes without masks, occur multiple times throughout the day. Students might be taking walks, engaging in curriculum outside, or doing an active staff led activity. Please visit the school's Facebook page for more on mask breaks.

Seeking Artwork for Virtual Fair
Sprague is hosting a Virtual Art Show in May and students have been hard at work creating some beautiful masterpieces for the show.
Each week on Zoom Art Teacher Allison Smith has been working with students to create artwork for Sprague's Virtual Art Show. If your child would like to have artwork on display at the Virtual Art Show, please have them submit a good quality picture on Seesaw. For information on types of project to submit and how to submit projects, please review these directions.
From April 30 through May 2 all Sprague School students are invited to participate in the “Health Moves Minds Virtual Run/Walk”, a fundraiser benefiting health and physical education programs focusing on wellness and mental health. Your child will have the opportunity to be involved in a virtual run/walk with your family in your own neighborhood or anywhere you want to go. The walk is designed to educate our students and staff on the importance of overall wellness and mental health with further education occurring in P.E. classes at school. It is through this program that we can inspire healthy habits and teach students to thrive physically and emotionally. Please read the e-notice for more details on the Sprague Fundraising Event.
Incoming Kindergarten Orientation
For current students who have never been inside Sprague due to the pandemic or because they are new to District 103, Principal Hofmeier will offer building tours over the summer. Watch for a summer sign up sheet to come out later this spring.
Half Day Student Orientation
We are planning the transition for Sprague School second-grade students to Half Day third-grade (incoming third-graders, full remote current third-graders, and other students new to Half Day) in a way that is fun, meaningful and supportive for our students.
Over the summer Half Day will prepare the building for full in-person learning and the spaces will look much different than they do right now. To allow us time to prepare classroom spaces for learning, we are planning for student orientation activities (for the students new to Half Day) to be held in late July or early August. We will send you more information as we set a date for this event.
Update Student iPads
To check for iPadOS updates, use the following steps:
Tap on the Settings app (gray gear)
Tap “Software Update”
If there’s an update available, you will see information about the update, followed by an “Install Now” button.
please make sure the iPad is plugged into a power source, has at least 20% battery, and has 5 GB of free space, and then proceed with the update.
If the iPad says “Your software is up to date,” then you are all set and the update is complete.
Please complete these steps as soon as possible in order to maintain the best possible security on your child’s iPad.

Virtual 5K Run-Walk
D103 PTO's virtual 5K run/walk event is now open.
In order to keep our community safe and continue to raise funds for our school district, the D103 PTO will host its first ever (hopefully only) Run for D103 VIRTUAL 5K Run/Walk. Please visit the Run for D103 website to learn more about the event and register.
Volunteer of the Year Award
The D103 PTO Executive Board appreciates all of our volunteers! We also like to acknowledge that one special person who has gone above and beyond the call of duty. If you know of a deserving person you would like to nominate for the 2020-2021 D103 PTO Scott S. Guziec Volunteer of the Year Award, please fill out the Google nomination form. Nominations are due by May 1.
Dawn Anderson Angel Award
Requirements for Nomination: The nominee must be someone whose youngest child is an eighth-grade student so that this volunteer will be "graduating" from District 103. The volunteer should be someone who has committed his or her time over several years to our District, including volunteering for the PTO.
Maybe this is a visible volunteer who has led many PTO events or a quiet contributor who we could always count on to fill in when needed. Like Dawn, this volunteer should have an infectious volunteer spirit. The deadline for submission is April 30. Please fill out the Google nomination form to recognize a volunteer.
