A Message From Dr. Flowers- Principal
Dear Families,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to provide an update on our students' state testing schedule. Our fifth graders completed their Science State Test last week, and our third, fourth, and fifth graders will be taking their Math State Tests on Thursday and Friday next week. If your child will be absent on any of these testing days, please notify their teacher as soon as possible.
Lastly, I wanted to remind you that there will be no school on Tuesday, May 2nd. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us. We value and appreciate your ongoing support and involvement in your child's education.
Warm regards,
Barb Flowers
Congratulations!

COLOR RUN
Brimfield’s Bee Healthy Color Run
May 12th
4/5th grade Student Council is proud to present Brimfield Elementary
Annual Color Run on Friday, May 12th!
Primary grades (K-2) will walk/run half a mile, intermediate grades (3-5) will walk/run 1 mile.
How the COLOR part works:
− The race course in the field behind the school will have color zones where Student Council Members will spray non-toxic wet color (water, food color, & vinegar) towards the students’ torso for each lap completed. Color zones can be bypassed if a student does not wish to go through.
We will use the following indicators for student participation in color zones. If a student is wearing:
WHITE/LIGHT Colored Clothing = I want to be COLORED
BLACK/DARK Colored Clothing = I do NOT want to be COLORED
Race day:
− On May 12th send your child to school wearing white (if he or she wants to be sprayed with color) or black (if he or she does not want sprayed with color) and appropriate running shoes.
− Students may dress up with tutus or any other fun run wear that you don’t mind getting colored. Sunglasses or goggles are recommended.
− The wet color is non-toxic and might wash out of clothing. However, we recommend that the students wear clothing you don’t mind getting colored. We also recommend your child brings a change of clothes and a Ziploc bag for his or her shirt.
− You may wish to have a towel for car riders to sit on for the ride home.
Fundraising:
− There isn’t a set amount in order to enter the Color Run. All donations are appreciated and will go towards Brimfield Elementary’s Student Council Fund. The 4/5th grade Student Council will vote on how the monies raised will be spent to help the school next year.
− Students should NOT go door-to-door fundraising. Please only have students ask friends and relatives to sponsor their run.
Prizes:
− The class that raises the most money will win a Silly String Party!
− For every $5 a student collects, he or she will receive 1 raffle ticket to be entered for prizes.
Important Dates:
− Permission slips are due by May 3
− Pledge forms and donations are due by May 5th
− Brimfield Elementary’s Color Run will be held on May 12th
Please sign & return the permission form below. Keep the top portion.

PBIS CORNER
What is PBIS?
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports is an important part of the school environment to encourage positive behavior. There are clear expectations throughout the school that are taught consistently throughout the year. The four expectations promoted at Field Local Schools are:
Safe
Outstanding
Accountable
Respectful
When students do not respond to teaching of the building or classroom expectations, we will view it as an opportunity for re-teaching, not just negative consequences. Students still receive consequences for negative behavior. The goal of the consequence is to teach students so they will not repeat the negative behavior.
