Adapted Community Recreation
Columbia Parks and Recreation offers adapted recreation programs (Adapted Community Recreation), located at Stuart Parker Housing Development (formerly Paquin Tower), and is designed for individuals with special needs. The program is open to the community. Also offered, is Adapted Sports housed at the Activity and Recreation Center (ARC). If you wish to participate in any Parks and Recreation activity, yet feel you may need some special accommodation, please call the office.

Adapted Sports
The City of Columbia offers numerous sports to individuals with special needs. Competitions are through Special Olympics, however, competing is not required for participation. When you register, please be sure that your athlete has a current physical and release form. New participants must schedule a New Athlete Meeting prior to participation. To schedule a new athlete meeting, contact Jessica Sida.

Here are some of the happenings in October 2016:
Entomology Museum
We are going to the MU Entomology Museum at 1 pm on Tuesday October 4th. We will walk to the museum from Paquin Tower. There is no fee for this event.
Farmer's market
Time to go to the local farmers market on Thursday afternoon. Jump in to get some yummy produce at the Farmer's Market on October 6th! The shuttle will leave Paquin Tower at 3 pm.
Jewelry Workshop
Join us at the Paquin Tower at 12 pm October 7th and 21st for making some make and take jewelry projects or work on a piece that is in need of some repair. Materials will be provided. $1 Dollar Donations are appreciated
Ernie's Cafe
We are going to get some good old fashion American Food!!! On Tuesday October 11th, at 9 am, we will walk from Paquin Tower to the nearby cafe. Be sure to bring money for your breakfast.
Farmers Pick Buffet
We are headed to Boonville for a big lunch at 11 am on October the 20th. The Trip fee is $3 (plus a current Recreation Card) and don't forget to bring money for your lunch.
$1.00 Movie
We'll go to Forum Theater on October 21 at 9:30 am to see The Secret Life of Pets. Must have a current Recreation Card and please bring money for the movie plus any snacks you may want.
Dance at the ARC
Join us at the ARC for a fun night of great music and lots of dancing on October 21 at 6:30 pm. Snacks will be provided. Cost is $5.00 at the door and is located at 1701 W. Ash St. Columbia, MO 65203.
Spooky Crispies
Let's enjoy some homemade cinnamon sugar crisps. We will demonstrate how to make these budget friendly tasty treats so that you can recreate them at home. Come to the lobby of Paquin Tower on October 25th at 2pm. All materials will be provided.
Wacky Waffles
Ever wished breakfast was a bit more colorful? Come to Paquin Tower at 9 am on October 27th and enjoy some waffles with a colorful twist. Waffles will be $2 a plate.
Fall Harvest
Please sign up to help out at the Fall Harvest on October 28 at 5 pm! Items needed are available in the Adapted Community Recreation office at Paquin Tower. There will be food, crafts, candy, and more!
Ping Pong
Our outdoor ping pong table is ready for use!! Come enjoy a relaxing game and get outside to enjoy the Fall weather.
Happy Hour Fitness (HHF)
Happy Hour Fitness is a small group that meets Monday through Friday at 3 pm to be more active. Fridays are chair yoga days the other days are open to suggestion!
Pokemon GO!!!!
Calling all trainers who wanna be the very best. At 3 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the month of September a group of devoted trainers will leave Paquin on foot to hunt down Pokemon and Poke Stops. Be sure to bring comfortable walking shoes and your phone! Gotta catch'em all!!!!
Unofficial Paquin Movie Group
The movie group will meet in the lobby of Paquin every Tuesday evening at 6 pm. Movies shown will be voted on the week before and popcorn will be provided.
