The Hagia Sophia
Construction of the Hagia Sophia
During the construction of the Hagia Sophia was difficult but it was also successful. There was a lack of bilaterally symmetrical bultressing, plastic flow of mortar resulting in a shifting of walls, vaults, and settling of the foundation (learn.columbia.edu). Most people were resentful of the high taxes as the Hagia Sophia was being built (livescience.com). Importantly it was built but for a cathedral (livescience.com). Also it was the largest church built in Istanbul (howtoistanbul.com).
Hagia Sophia looks amazing
The Hagia Sophia turned out beautiful and symbolizes amazing things. It is a domed monument with 2 floors centered on a giant nave, great dome ceiling with smaller domes, and has towering above ( Jarus, Owen). The Hagia symbolizes all glory of the Byzantium ( dl.ket.org). Also it represents all of turkey's past ( popular-archaeology.com).
Most importantly it turned out great
Most importantly it came out great and was created a long time ago. It's located in Istanbul, Turkey near Topkapi palace ( hagiasophia.com). It was created February 1,1935 ( teslasociety.com). The Hagia Sophia use to be a church, then a mosque, now the second most visited museum in the world (hagiasophia.com).
