Positive Framing Observation Form
You should plan to observe for Positive Framing with each of your teachers at least three times this week to have an informed rubric score by the end of the week.
Please have at least three observations completed by the end of the school day on Thursday so that we can analyze the data for pre-work and during the EOW meeting on Friday.
To help excel teacher development and to keep a tight feedback loop, I would like for videos to be included in the forms as well to highlight the areas of strength and areas of focus for the teacher in a visual way.
The form will collect the responses and automatically create an individualized Google doc for each teacher to access after an observation. It will create the url; you'll just need to share the doc with teacher.
All forms are automatically uploaded into this folder.
My hope is that this makes observation feedback more streamlined for you!
I am going to also create a Google form for the 6 steps document so that you can plan your 1:1s and have the form automatically create a Google doc of it.
I'll have it completed it by COB tomorrow for you all to begin using this week.
This is what the document will look like after you complete the Google observation form on a teacher:
Third Grade MAP Quartiles
Fourth Grade MAP Quartiles
50th percentile
Kindergarten MAP Quartiles
First Grade MAP Quartiles
Second Grade MAP Quartiles
Action Research Meeting
The meeting will take place next Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 4:30pm in the PD room. I would like for all ILT members to attend. Let me know if this conflicts with a current event on your schedule.
I would like to take the approach of action research to develop an implementation plan for decreasing student discipline reports and effectively dealing with them throughout the school so that the team is taking a scholarly, scientifically researched approach to developing a solution versus it being randomly chosen. This will also provide professional development for staff members interested in education research.
I am looking for a good professional text to use. I have one on teacher action research that I read for a grad school class, but I'm also interested in any that you all may know about in the area of action research in schools.
End of Week Meeting
EOW Meeting Overview
Pre-work: Approx. 30 minutes
Coaching Dashboard - CT will send out by COB on Thursday.
Look at trends in data for each cohort/coach (note trends, celebratory points and possible next steps for the school based on data)
- Check in on each coach's teacher cohort data for Positive Framing
- Check in on each coach's teacher cohort data for Double Planning with exemplars
- Check in one each coach's teacher cohort data for I do fidelity
- Identify root causes and set next steps for the school based on cohort trends
- Case Study of a teacher - using "triangle" data to inform action steps with teachers
- Teacher PD for the upcoming week
- Major events for the upcoming week
I will create a double planning and I do Google observation form to collect the data in one place for us to analyze. These forms will be created and shared with you by COB Monday.
For double planning with exemplars, the form should also serve as your feedback form to teachers during IP feedback so the process is streamlined.
If you would like for one of your teachers to serve as a case study on Friday, please e-mail me by COB on Tuesday.
For the case study, you will need:
- Teacher observation video
- Teacher's action steps updated in Master Coaching Deck
- Teacher's IP plans for the lesson observed, unit assessment and unit plans
- Teacher's Positive Framing feedback
- Teacher's student data - unit assessment if ready, MAP data of student quartiles in cohort observed in the video
- Other general information about teacher - is the teacher frequently late with IP submission? what are relationships like between the teacher and his/her students? is the teacher progressing or regressing in progress over time? other information?
Staff Culture
Find ways to observe teachers who are not on your coaching caseload and send them positive feedback about great things that you see or notice from them!
SHOUT OUT to Caity who has almost collected authentic student notes for every teacher to receive along with their "in action" snapshot!
If you have not uploaded an "in action" photo of your teacher, upload them by COB Tuesday so that they can be sent to be developed on Tuesday evening and ready for pick-up by Wednesday.
Weekly Inspiration: "We are One"
I'm a hardcore Georgia Bulldogs *pronounced 'bulldawgs* fan (sorry, Caity, seems you're double teamed with Gator-haters between Nicki and I #sicem) in addition to being a die-hard Falcons fan #riseup.
In honor of football seasoning officially opening, I leave you with one of the most powerful videos I've watched. Ever.
It is University of Georgia's hype video for the opening of their 2014 football season.
Y'all know that normally, I'm verbose. But, this video is so soul-wrenching that I'm going to let it speak for itself. Literally.
I'm going to share this with staff later this week.
Always remember that WE ARE ONE. "...this is our moment."
Love you always and always so incredibly blessed for each of you,
Christa
