- Currently UT Knoxville Women’s Athletic Director Emeritus, author, frequently-requested speaker and community leader
- Women’s Athletic Director at UTK from 1983 to 2014
- Under her watch, annual giving for women’s athletics increased from $75,000 to $2 million, programs from 7 to 11 sports, operations from $1.2 million to $5.2 million and a graduation rate of 98%
- First recipient of the NCAA Pat Summitt Award, NACDA’s James Corbett Award, NACWA Admin Athletic Director of the Year, NACWAA Lifetime Achievement Award and her own street – Joan Cronan Way
- Tennessee and Knoxville Sports Halls of Fame, College of Charleston Hall of Fame and NACDA Hall of Fame
- Member and leader of numerous local, regional, state and national civic, business and professional boards
- Louisiana native and LSU graduate with BS in Physical Education and Mathematics and MS in Administration and Supervision

Elementary Engineering and the NEW Science Standards
Room 104
Engineering is prevalent through the new science standards. It is found in the practices and again in science content. This session will introduce the thinking process behind the engineering design process (EDP) for elementary learners. This is a great first step to understanding how to support your teachers in implementing this change to new science standards.

This session will explore the topic of text complexity and the need to assist teachers in being more deliberate about selecting texts that challenge ALL students. Complex text is the key to success on ACT and EOC Exams.

Support for ELs in the General Ed Classroom K-8

In this session we will focus on selecting meaningful activities. We will help teachers recognize opportunities for differentiation throughout the various parts of a lesson to ensure ELs have access to rigorous grade level standards in the content classroom as well as opportunities to show mastery using language within their individual proficiency levels across domains.

In this session we will determine how lesson preparation influences lesson delivery and consider how teachers should generate and implement activities to keep ELs engaged in learning which promotes progress towards mastery of a grade level standard. Lesson Delivery includes tasks which support lesson objectives (content and language) and promote student engagement. We will also discuss how pacing contributes to successful lesson delivery.

This session you will get a refresher on the scientific practices, cross cutting concepts, and standards. We will discuss assessment updates from the state and look at ways to assess these three-dimensional standards in the classroom.
Bonnie Raitt Math: "Let's Give Them Something to Talk About"

This session is for K-12 math teachers and teacher leaders. As we work to build discourse-driven classrooms, what does that look like across grade bands? What are students and teachers doing to make connections among math topics? Come preview the learning teachers will engage in during our summer PD offerings that will allow opportunities for conversations that span key mathematics topics in K-12 classrooms.
