Principal's Message...
Spring is coming... or so I'm told at least. It may not feel like it yet, but it has to come eventually, right?! Spring is a busy time at Sunnyside Elementary, and we will have several things going on over the next couple months:
Field Trips: March through May are definitely our "busy" months when it comes to field trips. In the coming months, we have several trips planned for kindergarten, first, and second grades. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for information from your child's teacher as we move through the spring!
Spring Concerts: Our spring concerts will take place from April 1 - 9. Each day, a different group of classes performs at 2:00 pm. There will be a dress rehearsal at 9:30 am each day as well, and families are welcome to attend if they are unable to make the 2:00 show. Our schedule for concerts is as follows:
Monday, April 1st -- First Grade: Swanson, Pearson, Welsch
Tuesday, April 2nd -- First Grade: Harteneck, Edwards, Antley
Wednesday, April 3rd -- First Grade: Grove, Krenik, Friedrich
Thursday, April 4th -- Second Grade: Hoffman, Dressen
Monday, April 8th -- Kindergarten: Plonsky, Dressen, Prahl, McDonnell
Tuesday, April 9th -- Kindergarten: Prigge, Marklevits, Richardson, Johnson
Scholastic Book Fair: Our spring Book Fair will also take place April 1 - 9 to coincide with our spring concerts. The spring Scholastic Book Fair is a buy one, get one free event, so it's a good chance to load up on literature for a very reasonable price! The Book Fair will be open before school each day, as well as in the afternoons during and after concerts until 3:15.
APEX Fun Run: The last two weeks of April, Sunnyside will be participating in our spring fundraiser, the APEX Fun Run. For two weeks, students will work to gather pledges and engage in fun, character-building lessons with APEX staff. The fundraiser then culminates in a fun run at Sunnyside on the last day. Look for more specific information soon!
There are several other fun activities we have coming up this spring at Sunnyside as well, so stay tuned!

***Per district procedure, we have one 15-minute conference time available per student. It is imperative that parents/caregivers who are connected to the student are receiving the same information and planning together, as a team, how to best support the student. Please contact the Sunnyside office at 651-385- 4570 if you have difficulty signing up or have questions about conferences.
