Miss Courtney and Miss Amy's Class!
What we did this week...
We had a long weekend without each other, so on Tuesday we were itching to get into our routines! We watched a scholastic video about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and talked about how even though we are all very different, we are also the same. We did a friendship craft that helped to unify us together. Everyone got a white heart cut out and a cup of paint, everyone's paints were different...but their hearts were the same. We walked around the room putting dots of paint on each other's hearts. We did this several times until all of our hearts were full of rainbow colors. Since everyone collaborated with each other to do their work, we did not put names on them. The kids did great working together to get this done.
This week , during choice time we are inviting the kids over to make snowmen. They have to draw the circles, glue them on in the correct order, add facial features, arms, and snow of course.
On Wednesday, we got to meet Miss Jess who is a speech student working with Miss Becky. She will be around for a while helping us to learn! Today we began to learn about the letter F. We learned what sound F makes and we discussed pictures that begin with the sound "fffff."
Thursday was a lot of fun. We brought out pattern blocks and the kids did so many cool things. Some were fitting all the shapes into the hexagon to see what else could make a hexagon. Others were setting them up as dominos and making the first letter of their name fall down. Others were creating cool towers out of them! Some friends lined up all of our colorful trains, bears, bunnies, etc. and creating a "super long train". It was so long it even made it into the bathroom! After circle time we read Snowmen at Night and created a melting snowman craft! We had snack and played at centers!
Friday was also great! We did a whole group lesson with Miss Kelly and worked on drawing matman together with clip boards and pencils! We went to see Mrs. Nice for art and then we played at centers! It has been a great week together.
