The Final Countdown...
Happy Weekend Spartan Families:
We hope you are looking forward to a great weekend with slightly cooler temps...summer snuck up on us this week!
This week's highlights came from our students in the musical arts! We had two amazing evenings as our Orchestra and Jazz Band performers put on shows for our families and guests. The evenings were the culmination of a year (actually years) of hard work and perseverance, and it was wonderful to see our students shine on stage.
As we come rolling out of the weekend we will truly be motoring around third and headed home on the 2021-22 school year. Below is a quick snapshot of what the final school days will look like at Shepard:
Tuesday, 5/31 - 8th Grade Graduation Ceremony at DHS
Wednesday, 6/1 - "Step Up" Day Activities for 6th and 7th grade
Thursday, 6/2 - Last Full Day of School/Student Chromebook Collection
Friday, 6/3 - 11am Dismissal to Summer Break

Have a wonderful weekend!
Enjoy!

The Shepard Learning Commons (LC) staff is excited to share a wonderful opportunity for our students--a virtual author visit with Jennifer Nielsen hosted by local bookseller, The Book Stall! Ms. Nielsen is a fave among students and staff here and has written many incredible titles such as the 2018 Illinois Caudill Winner, A Night Divided. Her latest book is Lines of Courage and will be made available for purchase through The Book Stall and includes an autographed bookplate! (Books must be purchased by May 23 and will be delivered to our school.)
Students who are interested in attending our virtual author visit in the Shepard LC on Thursday, May 19, from 9:10-10:00 am will need to seek permission from their teacher(s) and arrange to make up any missed work. They also must sign up with their DPS109 e-mail to attend here: bit.ly/authorvisit22
We look forward to this event in our Shepard LC! Please let us know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Andrea Trudeau
