Who Should Attend:

Educators (i.e. teachers, specialists, administrators) looking to bring mindfulness concepts into school settings for improved learning and social interaction outcomes as well as positive well-being of staff and students

About the Workshop:

Educators across the board report that they are seeing increasing levels of tension and anxiety in their students, starting in younger years and earlier grades. Relatedly, educators themselves are also experiencing higher levels of stress that impact their work, quality of life and capacity to model desirable behavior for their students.

With a focus on mindfulness and supporting brain science, this workshop is designed to give educators direct experience with the practices that will first help them find greater ease and calm. With that foundation, participants will be taught practical methods to bring to their students within the context of the school setting.

After taking this workshop, participants will improve their ability to:

  • Identify the signs and signals of their own stress profile
  • Understand how mindfulness can help mitigate the physiological, emotional and behavioral impacts of stress
  • Choose the mindfulness based stress management tools and practices that are most effective for themselves and their students
  • Develop a plan to integrate mindful moments into the daily schedule to enhance curriculum and student engagement

About the Presenter

With a seasoned background in behavior change, brain science and holistic approaches to well-being, Dr. Debra LeClair is a psychologist, coach, speaker and writer. Based on her commitment to human potential, Debra co-founded Full Spectrum Wellness LLC, a holistic health and learning center where she has been teaching classes in meditation, stress management and creativity since it opened in 2002. Through cultivating her own practice across spiritual traditions and completing trainings through the medical schools at both UMASS and Harvard as well as Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Debra has been teaching meditation and mindfulness in settings that range from large corporations to school settings. Through SERESC, where she has been a consultant since 2002, Debra is the Director of Project Chill, a program under the Academies for Kids.
