SHARK IN THE PARK!
LOVING THE ALPHABET!
Developmentally Appropriate Practice in Early Literacy?
Young children need to engage in learning about literacy through meaningful experiences so every morning we are playing different alphabet games during circle time. We played a game called "HEADS UP" and the kids gave me clues related to the letter that I had on my head.
We also played a game on the board to spot specific letters in the words that we know.
MEASURING SHARKS
First we estimated how many cubes long the sharks would be. Our guesses were pretty wild. Then we counted to find out. Next, each child guessed how many cubes long his/her shark was and we checked. This activity kept everyone's attention for the entire time!
