Rangers LEAD the Way!
Rudder Rangers Lead the Way has been our school montra but what does that say about our commitment to our students? Rudder's new guiding principles using Lead as the acronym is what everything we do will center around in our effort to ensure all students have the opportunity and resources to be successful at Rudder MS.
Rudder Legendary Teacher of The Week is Mr. Miguel Pena!!
Mr. Pena is one of our amazing ESL teachers who works with our EL refugee students. He just graduated with his masters in Educational leadership and hopes to move into school leadership. He is passionate about his student and developing relationships with not only his students but their families as well. He goes above and beyond with his students working closely with our community liaison to do home visits to make sure his new coming families have all their needs met from technology to food needs. Additionally, he is learning Arabic from his student working on letters and numbers currently. When asked what makes Mr. Pena a Legendary Teacher, he colleague stated, "Not only does Coach Pena spend his time supporting our Refugee students in transitioning to their new home at Rudder, he goes above and beyond by making time to visit these students at their houses, safely, and makes sure that they are set up to be successful at school. He goes above and beyond his required tasks to make sure that our students who may need the extra support receive it. While working full time, he has recently finished his Masters degree in School Administration and is one of the boys and girls track coaches for the school." Mr. Pena is a dedicated Ranger who cares deeply for his Rudder community. Congratulations Mr. Pena for being a big part of what makes Rudder great!!
