From the Board
First of all, we want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who participated in our Fun Run fundraiser! All of your donations far exceeded our expectations! We are very excited to announce that all of your donations raised a net total of $35,000 for our school! We are so grateful to be able to provide wonderful programs for the students this year and give back to the school as much as we can.
We had a lot of generous sponsors this year for our Fun Run. We would like to recognize Bar-T for donating a full week of summer camp at Bar-T Mountainside, Manhattan Pizza for donating gift cards for EVERY student who raised $25+, Hershey Park for donating 4 tickets to Candy Cane Lane, KIDSFIRST Swim School for donating a 2 hour birthday party, Servicemaster Restoration by Cross in Mt. Airy for donating 100 beach balls for the race and Shadowland for donating a triple play pass. Massage Envy donated a gift card to the CES teacher who had the highest rate of participation, Giant donated water for the race and Wegmans gave us $150 to use towards popsicles. We are so thankful for all of the community support!
We also wanted to mention a few other businesses that were generous enough to make donations to our school. This year the Art Department will team up with the PTA to work on the Kindness Rocks project. Each student will be given a rock and they can decorate it in their art class. Each rock will be displayed out in a special spot at Centerville. We are very excited about the project and can’t wait to see the final display. We want to thank Frederick Brick Works for donating 1,000 river rocks for our students!
This year, our Principal, Mrs. Hilliard, was awarded the 2018 National Distinguished Principals Award by the National Association of Elementary School Principals. Only one winner was chosen from each state for this prestgious award. Every Principal had to bring a gift to each of the recipients at the Awards Gala to represent their state. Mrs. Hilliard chose Old Bay and crab mallets, they turned out great! We want to thank Avery’s Maryland Grille and May’s Restaurant for providing crab mallets for each gift bag at the Gala.
We hope everyone has had a great first quarter so far. We have so much more fun to look forward to this year!
Best Regards,
Brooke, Ashleigh, Dee, Stacey & Alanna

Book Fair—THANK YOU
Fall Harvest Book Fair
THANK YOU to everyone that volunteered during Book Fair this year! This event would not be possible without so many wonderful volunteers!
The Book Fair was a huge success this year. Families purchased 179 books from the teacher's wish list this year!
CES teachers really appreciate all of the generosity and it is so exciting to watch the classroom libraries grow! CES raised more money
than ever this year for All for Books, and with this money CES was able to purchase approximately 50 books for students in need! Thank you for another
great year!!!
