Stinson Middle School - October 2018
Stinson Mission Statement
Through relevant and engaging learning experiences, we will foster an environment of mutual respect and equip students with the academic and technological skills to grow as lifelong learners, problem solvers, and productive citizens.
Welcome Skyhawks!
Dear Stinson Parents and Students:
As we complete the first six weeks of school, we look forward to upcoming events for this next six weeks. Next week on Oct. 16, we will hold Student Led Conferences for all grade levels, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The students will have the opportunity to hold a conference with their parents on their academic progress from this 1st six weeks. This is not an evening for parent conferences, but an opportunity for students to take ownership of their learning and set goals for the remainder of the semester. We will hold a second Student Led Conference in the spring on February 26.
We are also in the planning stages of our annual Fall Fest, scheduled on Friday, November 2, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The Choir, Jazz Band, and Dance classes will be entertaining us during Fall Fest. Please make plans to join us for this community building event.
Finally, a big thank you to our students, faculty, and staff during our power outage on Friday, Oct. 12. We are indebted to CPS for repairing this unforeseen power outage and glad we were able to resume classes by mid morning. Also, a big thank you to our cafeteria staff who provided breakfast and lunch for our students during the outage. We so appreciated everyone's patience and understanding during the outage.
With Skyhawk Pride,
Lourdes J. Medina, Principal
KEY REMINDER
Student safety is critical, and we want to remind parents to not drop off or pick up students in the parking lot. We have a parent drop off loop in the front of the school for parents to use before and after school. If you choose to use the parking lot to drop off or pick up your student, please park your vehicle and walk your student to ensure they are safe.
Also, a reminder that the speed limit in the parking lot and parent pick up loop is 10 miles an hour. Thank you for your cooperation and support.
