Our students in grades 1st-5th took their Winter Reading Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) assessment this past week at school. As a reminder, this assessment is an adaptive test which helps teachers, parents, and administrators improve learning for all students and assist them in making informed decisions that promote a child's individual academic growth.
This coming week, students will be taking the mathematics version of this assessment. Please look for an email from your child's teacher about the dates and times of these assessments.
If you were absent last week, we will work to ensure your child is able to make up this assessment this coming week!
Worthington Park is in search of volunteers to work with our Kindergarten students as part of the Ready for Reading Program. If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity to help our youngest learners, please email Kari Perman, building coordinator, at kperman@wscloud.org.

While we have had beautiful weather this past week, we know that cold temperatures are headed our way. We encourage all parents to start sending students with coats, hats, and gloves in their bookbags daily. As a school- we always try to utilize our beautiful grounds and playground as much as possible. Even in winter months, our students will be going outside as long as the temperature at or above 20 degrees. Below is more information from our District Elementary Handbook. Thank you for helping keep our Park Sharks warm!
Weather and health permitting, we expect all children to go outside for recess. In our schools, when the weather is dry/dry enough, and the temperature is 20 degrees or higher, real temperature, or wind-chill, we plan to take students outside for recess. It is critically important that parents/guardians send students appropriately dressed for the weather conditions and seasons.
Worthington Park Elementary PTA is hosting a Skate Party on Thursday, December 8th at Skate Zone 71. Thanks to your amazing support of PTA during our fall Walk-a-Thon - this event is free for both parents and students to attend.
