Bailey Buccaneer News
Week of October 2nd, 2023
From the Principal's Desk
Parents,
We hope this message finds you well. We wanted to remind you that Fall Break is October 9th-14th. It's important for our students to finish strong by coming to school every day and continue to work hard as we close out he 9 week report card in a few weeks.
There are so many activities going on at Bailey School this week, and we sincerely hope that you will take the time to join us and show your support.
- As we close out Hispanic Heritage Month this week, we have planned an exciting event for Wednesday, October 4th. Our first Fiesta Night will take place from 6 to 8 PM. It will be a wonderful evening of celebration with free food and entertainment for the whole family. We encourage you to join us and be part of this festive occasion.
- In addition to these events, our choir has been invited to perform at the Korean Festival on Saturday at 12:50 PM. It's a chance for our students to showcase their talent and embrace cultural diversity.
- Furthermore, we have an exciting week ahead with football games on Tuesday and volleyball games on Thursday. We encourage you to come out and support our students in these athletic endeavors.
Your presence makes a significant difference and helps create a vibrant and engaged school community.
Warm regards,
Bailey Administrators

Progress Reports
Progress reports for the 2nd 6 week period went home on Friday, 9/29/23. There are only 2 instructional weeks left before we have our first report card. We look forward to celebrating our honor roll students at the end of this 9 week period.
This year, all math students are completing online coursework in MATHia. MATHia is software that students can access online to get extra practice on grade level material while offering tutorials, hints, practice problems and much more. MATHia is a critical piece to our curriculum. Teachers
will then receive detailed reports that lets them know how your child is doing on a variety of standards, ultimately pinpointing exactly what standard your child needs help on. Our goal
this year is for every child to get 100% of the way through their grade level course curriculum. We need your help to support this academic goal. Please see the MATHia flyer that has specifics on how you can partner with our teacher to support your student's growth in math.
Major Grades This Week:
8th S.S. CA2-10/4-5/23
7th Math CA2-10/5/23
6th Math CA2-10/6/23
8th Math CA2-10/6/23
On October 16, we will begin screening for scoliosis. Scoliosis is a curvature in the spine. The state requires screening of females in middle school in the fall of their 7th grade year and the screening of boys in the fall of their 8th grade year. Click the Scoliosis Screening link to read more details.
Reminder of Dress Code & Hygiene Products
Now that school is completely underway, we would like to remind you of the dress code and items that are not allowed at school. Please partner with us in reminding our students of these guidelines. The following are not allowed and will be confiscated if brought to school:
- Hoodies
- Crocs/sandals
- Aerosol and body sprays
- Black pants
Thank you for your help.
Annual Update: Free Lunch to Paid
It is very important to complete the Annual Update if you did not. There is a lunch form in the annual update that must be completed each year. Those who have not completed the annual registration update, the child's lunch status will change to a paid lunch status, This means that these students will have to pay for school lunch. Click here to complete the annual registration update.
Attendance
Please help us in making sure our Buccaneers are at school everyday. Our goal is to have no less than 98% of students in attendance everyday.
Parent Collaboration: We firmly believe that parents are invaluable partners in a child's education. This year, we will be organizing regular workshops and interactive sessions to strengthen the bond between parents, teachers, and students. We have several opportunities to be involved on campus.

As we begin to support our sporting events, please understand that no student will be allowed into the athletic events without a parent present with the student for the duration of the game.
Safety Reminders:
ID Badges
Z-Pass IDs are required by all staff, students, and visitors. Students must wear them daily at all times around their necks on a lanyard. Replacement badges will cost $5.00 and replacement lanyards are $1.00. Temporary badges are $1 and should be needed sparingly.
Fighting & Substantial Disruption
We are serious about learning in Spring ISD. Our Superintendent is adamant regarding “Zero Tolerance” for fights. The consequence for fighting, inciting a fight/incident, substantial disruption, or videoing of these incidents is DAEP placement as a FIRST OFFENSE. All individuals that are a part of any of these incidents that distract from the learning environment will attend DAEP per the District Code of Conduct.
Bus Transportation with Route Tracker
Although we begin dismissing busses at 4:25PM, we have busses that arrive later due to multiple routes. You can monitor your child bus route each day to see when it arrives by clicking here. When a bus arrives, the route will appear. When it leaves, the route turns green.
Please contact the transportation department with any questions or concerns about bus routes and pick-up times. 281-891-6490. http://www.infofinderi.com/ifi/?cid=SI3EP1SK4WO
