Message From Principal Engdall

Greetings Shaw Montessori Community,
What a great celebration for our young musicians this week! The energy and excitement around this year’s performances were at an all-time high. We had a lot of positive feedback about the concert venue, we even held off the rain on Thursday evening until after the beautiful, grand finale provided by our choir. Thank you for your continued, loving support.
Our district would like your input on the school calendar that will be proposed to our Governing Board. Our Calendar Committee has two models to share. Each model meets state requirements for instructional days and is aligned closely to the Phoenix Union High School District calendar because we know many families have students in both systems. Please take a moment to look at the two calendars and select the one you prefer.
Key Differences in the Calendar Models are outlined below:
Calendar 1 has a start day of August 3 and an end day of May 25. The winter holiday for Calendar 1 starts December 22 with a return to school January 9.
Calendar 2 has a start day of August 4 and an end day of May 24. The winter holiday for Calendar 1 starts December 21 with a return to school January 4.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. We appreciate your feedback!

Wishing you the very best,
Principal Engdall

Message From Nurse Rose

Covid cases this week
Student/Staff: 3
Family Member: 3
Pooled Testing Update: On Tuesday 184 students/staff were Pool tested for Covid 19. All Pools came back negative which is a really good indicator of the Covid 19 incidence in our school. We will do our last Pool testing for this year next Tuesday and will resume when we return to school.
Thanks! Rose RN

Garden Update

Greetings!
Our holiday concert series was a huge success! The students did an amazing job helping me prepare the garden for visitors. The 7th and 8th graders even harvested the produce and prepared the salads on Thursday. The reviews are in-the salads were enjoyed by all. Thank you middle school! And thank you to all the students who helped cultivate such a beautiful garden!
Next Wednesday (12/15) we will be hosting a garden table at pickup on Monroe St. We will be selling fresh produce, herbs, eggs and flowers. Please bring cash and show up early to pickup if you want some treats. First come first served.
Our tree planting has been placed on hold until after Christmas break. Please be wary of the holes on campus. We don’t want any accidents.
We can always use coffee grounds and can donations. Please make sure the coffee grounds have been brewed. You can pick up used grounds at Starbucks for free. We also prefer that your cans are uncrushed (the small kiddos love this task), however, we will accept crushed cans as well. You can drop them off at the table outside of the front office entrance.
We still need your Home Depot donations. Even $25.00 is a huge contribution. Here’s the link to Home Depot gift cards: https://www.homedepot.com/c/Gift_Cards
