The Greendell Gosling Flyer-12th Ed

October 28, 2020

Dear Greendell Families,

What a busy couple of weeks we've had! Fall is a time of holidays and seasonal celebrations that make this time of year seem just a little more hectic. It was nice to take some time to read and admire all of the leaves the children created for our Greendell Friendship Tree as I placed them on the tree. The leaves expressed an incredible amount of kindness and thoughtfulness from our young children.

The children have been excited about their costumes, picking out pumpkins and creating fun art projects at school. I can never get enough pumpkin art. Our costume parades may need to be in the form of a slide show but they will still be the most adorable!

Instead of picking out costumes with my kids, this is the first year that all three of my children are old enough to vote. It was a wonderful experience to go through our ballots together and deliver our votes to the ballot box. It was nice to have more options for voting and, with election day on November 3rd, it was time to vote!

Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

Principal Shannon

Kind and Friendly Wishes from our Greendell Learners

We had so many leaves to add to our Greendell Friendship Tree last week! Children from all of our Greendell programs: 3s/4s Learning Centers, PreSchool Family and Young Fives painted, wrote and dictated their thoughts on being kind to add to our tree.

Here are just a few of their kind and friendly thoughts:

  • Add lots of glitter!
  • Say, "Hello."
  • "It's kind to ask someone to play if they look sad."
  • Say, "I love you."
  • "My way to be kind is wave."
  • "If someone is sad, give them a hug and ask what you can do to help."
  • Say, "Would you like to play with me?"
  • "Give my brother toys he likes."
  • "Helping Mommy."
  • "It's kind to give someone a hug."

Greendell's English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) is Meeting Today!

Wednesday, October 28th, is our first Greendell English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) of the year. Families can join us today at 4:30pm by following this Zoom link.

ELAC is a committee made up of families of English Learners, school staff, and other school community members to promote school activities and provide information on the PAUSD English Learner program and the needs of English Learners.

Greendell School Site Council

We are looking for families interested in joining our Greendell School Site Council. The site council will meet once per month over Zoom and work together to review and plan our school's goals for our students.

Please contact me at scoleman@pausd.org to let me know you are interested in joining our site council to do this important work. We will adjust our meetings times/days to meet the scheduling needs of site council members.

Completing Your Child's Health Check Before School

Thank you to all of our families for completing the health check for your children each day! PAUSD is moving towards using an app for the check in process called Parent Square. So far, Parent Square has been set up for our Young Fives students and their families can begin using the app. See instructions for Parent Square by following this link.

We are working with PAUSD to add our Preschool Learning Centers next. Until then, families in our 3s and 4s classes will continue to use the same QR code/link to complete the check in form.
