Purpose of the Summer Assignment:
The purpose of this summer assignment is for students to engage in a variety of activities that will increase their knowledge of the language and the culture they are studying.
Relationship between Summer Task and 1st Quarter Objectives:
Students’ steady practice, exposure, and application of the target language will ensure they maintain proficiency and have the requisite skills to fully engage in the course content.
Propósito para el trabajo:
El propósito de este trabajo es para que los estudiantes puedan involucrarse en una variedad de actividades las cuales les ayudaran a mejorar su entendimiento de la lengua y la cultura que están estudiando.
Relación entre el trabajo de verano y los objetivos del primer cuarto de año (1st quarter):
La práctica continua, exposición, y uso de la lengua asegurará que los estudiantes mantengan la fluidez y las habilidades requeridas para el entendimiento del contenido del curso.

Maryland Seal of Biliteracy
MD Seal of Biliteracy is an award given by participating schools systems that recognizes a student’s high level of proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing in English and one or more languages (bilingual vs. biliterate).
This year, 63 students from Class of 2020 earned the MD Seal of Biliteracy in the following languages:
Amharic
French
German
Japanese
Portuguese
Spanish

World Language Medal of Excellence
This year, 34 students from Class of 2020 earned the World Language Medal of Excellence.
