Bring A Book Day Postponed

Since school was cancelled last Friday, we will be postponing Bring A Book Day until March 3. Instead of Valentine's Day, we will celebrate Dr. Seuss's Birthday! Track 2 students will have Bring A Book Day after they track back in, on March 14.

Please have your student bring in a gently used or new grade level book for their classroom libraries. We will have volunteers collecting any extra books we receive on both mornings. If you can help out from 8:30am-10am, please email Dawn Matta at

If you have already sent in your book, that is ok! Thank you!

PTA Positions for 2014-2015:

Nominating Committee
The success of the PTA has always been its strong leadership and hardworking members. This year we have several members of the Board of Directors stepping down to return to work, or because they are aging out of the school. We are currently looking to fill these positions with individuals who are interesting in continuing to move the PTA and its programs forward. Please contact AnnMarie Marchese and/or Kerri DeLair at if you are interested a leadership or committee position on the PTA for the 2014-2015 school year.

The Carnival is ten weeks away. There will be a video game truck, hamster balls, Lego activities, book swap, Flow Circus and so much more. Thank you to all of you who have volunteered to help so far. More help is still needed. If you have some time to help out in the weeks leading up to Carnival or on the day of Carnival please contact AnnMarie Marchese at Any little bit of time helps.

Hospitality : Teacher Luncheons

Did you know that the PTA hospitality committee organizes teacher luncheons on early release days? The food and items for these luncheons are donated by our wonderful MCES families. If you are interested and would like to be added to the hospitality signup genius, please email Brenda Gerken.

thanks a bunch,

Brenda Gerken

Spanish Speaking Liaison Needed:

SIP would like to find a Spanish speaking Liaison that would be willing to be a contact for our Spanish speaking families. This individual would be available by phone or email to answer any questions or help translate for the families. Ideally, there would be one person for each track, but for now 1 would be great!

If you are interested, please contact Heather Lynch at

School Store Needs Volunteers:

The school store is looking for volunteers to help sell items to the kids on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:00-8:25am for the 2013-2014 school year. You would only be signing up for a couple mornings per month - not all of them! They are specifically short on volunteers from Tracks 2 & 4 - but also need volunteers from tracks 1. This is a great way to volunteer if you're a working parent, and available in the mornings. If you can help out or would like more clarification of the exact hours she needs, please email Stephanie Petty at

Tuesdays: K-2 kids welcome from 8:00-8:25am
Thursdays: 3-5 kids welcome from 8:00-8:25am
The school store sells little pencils, erasers, fun little school items for kids to purchase - prices range from $0.10 - $2.00, so kids can easily afford to buy something even with a little bit of pocket change. It is located at the end of the main hallway, adjacent to the 2nd grade hallway.

Ink Cartridge Recycling:

If you have taken ink cartridges from our collection box and turned them in to Staples for our school, please send your rebate forms to the PTA. We will buy supplies for teachers with them. Thank you!
