The Manning Weekly Newsletter
April 30, 2021
Manning Community,
A couple things to note as you read through the newsletter this week. Manning will be running an optional summer school the week of August 2nd-6th. Please fill out the Google form below if your student might be interested in attending. The other important news to note is that next week is Teacher Appreciation Week!! I want to give a special thanks to our PTA, especially Laura Velapoldi for her thoughtfulness and hard work to put together an incredible week that honors Manning teachers and staff. Thank you, Laura!!
In the spirit of teacher appreciation week, I pulled out a book that's called "Apples and Chalkdust", a book that I was given upon completion of my student teaching many years ago. As I searched for a quote, the following quote resonated with me and it's something we all need to receive more of and need to give more of........ Have a wonderful weekend!

MAPS testing Make-up
I know these past few weeks have been full of testing and other "pandemic issues" that have caused your student to not have in-person learning daily or just by being remote, CMAS interruptions and other obstacles to their learning. However, we do still have to administer MATH MAP to your student(s) even with those operational disruptions to the learning environment. I must have all make ups done by May 14th. So, I want to offer several solutions for you and your student to consider moving forward.
- I will pull your student during the next two weeks during other instruction and class to finish.
- I will have another Friday zoom meeting on May 14th from 9am-1pm. This date will be mandatory if they have not finished testing as this is a mandatory no opt out test from Jeffco.

NJHS
The Manning chapter of the National Junior honor Society (NJHS) is holding a homeless shelter drive for this upcoming week. We are collecting items to be donated to a homeless shelter. In particular, NJHS is asking for hygiene items, clothing, blankets, food, children’s toys and books, and other essentials that can be utilized at the shelter. There are boxes by the front door to donate the items during school hours. For our remote families, feel free to stop by the school and ring the doorbell to leave your donations outside.
Thank you in advance!

8TH GRADE CONTINUATION UPDATE
Continuation will begin with an 8th Grade Slideshow. We would love a TOTAL of one or two favorite pictures of your 8th graders (could be as babies, toddlers, middle schoolers, hanging with their friends, playing sports, or even singing in choir, etc.) If you're willing to share, please put them in the DROPBOX below
Deadline for submission is Friday, May 7.
On Thursday, May 27 at 6:00pm, our formal continuation ceremony will take place virtually; we hope you will log on and celebrate your 8th graders with your families and with our Manning community. How to access the Continuation Ceremony will come soon, it will be a YouTube Premier.
Also, as we know how important it is to give our incredible 8th graders the chance to say goodbye to one another before they head to high school, we have scheduled the 8th Grade Picnic at Maple Grove Park for Thursday, May 27 from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Parents who have opted out of including your student in publications, please fill out the form below to opt in so we can use your student's photo in this ceremony video only. Thanks
Students will have an opportunity to submit a quote for their slide in the program during their ELA class.
A Message from the PTA...
We are fundraising for Teacher Appreciation week. Please sign up so we can show them the love they deserve, and a huge thank you to all of you who have donated already!

We are still on the hunt for parents to serve on the board next year. Next year's board will decide when to hold their meetings, so work schedules can be taken into consideration. Talk with a friend and see if you can serve together (or send us their names- we won't tell!) Half of our current board and many of our Committee chair people are 'graduating' from Manning, so we would love some new faces!
Thank you for your presentation Kari. We enjoyed it and learned a lot too!
We're almost to the end of the school year and we can all agree that this year has taken a toll. Manning parents and PTA would like to bring some JOY to our students, and what better way to do that than with frozen treats?!? Directly after school on Thursday, 5/6 parent volunteers will be handing out ice cream sandwiches and popsicles along with words of encouragement to get them through the end of the school year. Is your student a mobile mustang? Please swing by the school to pick up your treat between 3:15 and 3:30!
Is your student having trouble accessing some systems on their chromebook?
