Principal's Message

If someone would have told me when I became the principal at Murwood that we would be teaching remotely, zooming for Back to School Night and holding drive through events, I would have thought they were joking. And yet, both of my years at Murwood have been like no other.

I have been so impressed by the determination, resilience and strength of our students. They have adjusted to many changes in the way they learned, they have built lasting relationships with their classmates and teachers and changes in schedules and teachers.

I want to thank our parent community for all of the support and grace that was extended to our staff throughout this school year. The hard work, dedication and innovation of our teachers made this year a success. Thank you for being true partners with us to facilitate student learning.

To all of my 5th grade students, I wish you all the best as you transition on to your new chapter of learning. You will have such an amazing time in middle school.

If living during this pandemic has taught me anything, it is to cherish the times with my family and the beautiful life moments. I hope you will take some time this summer to enjoy time with your family.

Happy Summer!

Monifa Morgan

Congratulations on Your Retirment!

As this school year comes to a close, we bid farewell to three outstanding educators in our community. With a combined total of over 65 years of teaching in the Walnut Creek School District, Jan Wikander, Carol Hawthorne and Ron Jones will truly be missed. They have touched the lives of many students, sparking a joy of learning. The Murwood community wishes you a beautiful retirement.

A teacher never retires since their work lives on in the hearts of their students.

Big picture

WCEF’s books officially close on June 30 and we are still trending about $100,000 short of this year’s $1.3 million commitment. As every student benefits from donations to WCEF, please donate any amount. $10 to $100, $25 to $250, $600 per student to more, all gifts make a difference for our students.

To date 43% of our families have donated to WCEF. In order for WCEF to be sustainable and help make additional programs possible that the state does not fund, we need every family to donate. If every family who has not donated gave $50, we would reach our goal. Donate today.
