We are THANKFUL for you
Each year our Thanksgiving Feast is a huge success. This feast symbolizes our partnership with you. It is hard to believe we are already in November and so close to the holiday season. We want to take time in advance to share a moment of gratitude for each and every one of you.
Here are just a few reasons we are thankful to you:
- You bring us your very best version of your child and you trust us to grow and develop them
- You give your time and talent - speaking to classes, volunteering to make class items, stuff folders and/or attend class events such as field trips.
- You give your treasure to support school events such as joining PTA (don't worry if you haven't joined yet this year you still can) fundraisers, sponsorships, meals for staff etc.
- You provide great feedback - our two way communication helps to make us better.
- You spread the word about the great things happening in LEISD! Keep it up - be sure to use our hashtags #prestwickfamiLE #prestwickproud
- You help make Prestwick a place where learners are proud to learn, teachers are proud to teach and community members are proud to be a part of.
Together we are capable of so much! Let's keep our partnership alive and well! Our doors are open we look forward to a great rest of this year! See you at the feast - remember to arrive at the times specified and don't forget to check lost and found - items not claimed will be donated.
Oh and of course remember our bookfair is open to you for shopping. A good book is a great treat for the holiday break.

Prestwick LEarns: Small Group teach time
We even have parents and volunteers coming in to see small groups for various skills - how awesome is that! Have your child tell you about the last time they met in small group and what they worked on.

Staff Spotlight
This week our spotlight is on one of our amazing electives and specials teacher, Mr. Aguirre. Here is what he has to say about himself:
2019-2020 is my sixth year in LEISD at Prestwick STEM Academy, and 14th year teaching music. I am from Farmers Branch, graduating from R.L.Turner in 1996. I began college at Oklahoma State University and transferred as an undergrad to The University of Texas at Arlington where I completed my bachelor of music. I taught for six years at Maple Lawn Elementary in Dallas ISD, then two years at Freeman Elementary in Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD.
I moved my family to Little Elm seven years ago and we love it here! My wife and I have six children: three have graduated from Little Elm High School, and I have a senior, 8th grader, and kindergartener this year. After college, I was able to pursue and finish certification by the American Orff-Schulwerk Association, completing three levels of courses at Southern Methodist University continuing education courses. Orff Schulwerk incorporates speech, singing, movement, and instruments in music education.

180 Degree Program for 8th Graders
Dear Parents/Guardians,
On December 12th & 13th we will have a guest speaker from the 180 Degrees Program come to speak to the 8th graders at Prestwick STEM Academy. The presenter will discuss how to set boundaries, how to develop healthy relationships, the importance of abstinence until marriage, current Sexually Transmitted Disease/Sexually Transmitted Infection statistics, teen pregnancy rates, abusive relationships, and how past negative choices don’t have to define the future. There is a parent program at Prestwick STEM Academy on December 3rd at 6:00pm to give you more information or you can view the 180 Degrees website www.my180degrees.org.
If you DO NOT allow your child to hear this presentation, then please sign and return this form by Monday, December 9th. This program is geared toward 8th grade students and will be very beneficial. If you have any concerns, please call Toni Nelson at 972-947-9443 ext. 20023 or a member of our administration team at 972-947-9450. Thank you.
