Background Information

Stephanie Kwolek was born in New Kensington, Pennsylvania 1923. She invented the bullet proof vest. She didn't have enough money to go to medical school so then she decided to go find a job at DuPont. She started working at DuPont in 1950. Her father John Kwolek was the one who helped her with some tools and showed her how to do stuff. Her dad helped her with science too. She spent most of her life in Wilmington and Delaware. Then she died Wednesday in Wilmington 2014 she was 90 years old.

Important Inventions and other Accomplishments

Stephanie Kwolek created the bullet proof vest. In 1964 her group started inventing the bullet proof vest. When they were making the vest it took several days. She also made fiber and out it in the vest. She made crystals and then she made ropes out of crystals. She used different tools and one of them was liquid. In 1971 her first fiber was released. She received many awards one of them were a perken medal. She also received a technology award.
