Dr. Marscher's Message
Introducing.... the Good Troublemakers!
Lilja is pleased to announce the founding of our own Peacemakers-like group, named by the students themselves. Led by Ms. McMillan (counselor), Mr. Roper (music), and Ms. Golestani (art), The Good Troublemakers is an enrichment experience for our third graders, integrating music and visual arts to explore and share social justice themes with the greater community.
Our program has opened with a variety of read-alouds to teach themes of community and equality, and the power of teamwork. One group of students, working with Mr. Roper, has begun composition of their own song, words and rhythm. Through collaborative effort, their opening line is, "Community starts with two brave souls...."
We can't wait to share what these students are capable of creating! Stay tuned!
Five Things You Need to Know
1- **URGENT** From Officer Heffler
Officer Heffler has received several phone calls and observed the pickup line. Several cars are blocking the south bound traffic on Oak St waiting to turn left into the lot. Please be reminded that during drop off and pick up no one is allowed to take a left turn into the parking line. You must find a way to approach the car line coming from Bacon Street.
2- **IMPORTANT** ASAP REGISTRATION OPENS SOON
Registration for the ASAP program, which includes Early Risers (7am to arrival) and ASAP (dismissal to 6pm) will be 3/13-4/7. SPACE IS LIMITED. Registration is online only. If applicants exceed space available, a lottery of all applications received by midnight on April 9 will determine placement.

3- MISMATCH SOCK DAY MARCH 21ST
Every year on March 21, people all around the world come together to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day by wearing brightly colored, mismatched socks. March 21 is symbolic because people with Down syndrome have 3 copies of their 21st chromosome.
4- DISTRICT REPORT CARD
Every year, each public school and school district in Massachusetts receives a report card. Just as your child’s report card shows how they are doing in different subjects, the school’s report card is designed to show families how our school is doing in different areas. Please see this letter to read about the Lilja and Natick report card.
