Dear Parents and Families,
September is Attendance Awareness Month! You have always known that good attendance contributes to successful students, but this year we have some very important procedures, which we will follow:
1) Good attendance is to miss 9 or fewer days (average one per month).
2) After 7 absences, we will require third party documentation (dr. notes, dentist appt, court hearing, etc.) to excuse the absence.
3) We will contact you for a conference if your child has 3 unexcused absences, or 5 absences in a month (excused or unexcused).
4) Chronic absenteeism is more than 18 days in a school year.
I want to encourage all our Mustangs to be at school ON TIME, EVERY DAY, ALL DAY! It’s important to be here each day to learn. See you in class!
~Mrs. Dawson

Regular School Attendance: What you can do!
• Set a regular bed time and morning routine.
• Lay out clothes and pack backpacks the night before.
• Don’t let your child stay home unless he/she is truly sick. Keep in mind complaints of a stomach ache or headache can be a sign of anxiety and not a reason to stay home.
• If your child seems anxious about going to school, talk to teachers, school counselors, or other parents for advice on how to make him/her feel comfortable and excited about learning.
• Develop back-up plans for getting to school if something comes up. Call on a family member, a neighbor, or another parent.
• Avoid medical appointments and extended trips when school is in session.
