This week
Phew! What a busy 'on a knife edge' kind of week!
Well - to be honest, although the children who have been at school all week have done us proud every day - it just hasn't felt right.
We have missed our Venus bubble staff and children who have spent this week either ill with Covid 19 or self isolating. We have other members of staff self isolating too due to being traced as close contacts of positive cases over the half term holiday - and it has felt a little odd.
We have been on tenterhooks all week, wondering if anyone else will show symptoms, but so far so good and long may it last.
It does bring it home to us though that at Brayton, each and every child and member of staff matters - we notice when they're not here and think about their wellbeing. Once you're in this family you are in it for keeps.
Thank you for keeping us updated when you have a COVID related issue. It's so important to let us know so that we can act accordingly.
Let's hope that we don't have too many more cases on our hands before the end of term.

Stars
This week in Stars we have explored colour and Bonfire Night. We have read some stories about colour, 'Mix it Up' and 'The Colour Monster'. We have looked at mixing colours and we have even been on a colour hunt. We have painted fireworks, created sparklers, built bonfires and sung bonfire songs. In phonics we have concentrated on rhyme and alliteration and even given ourselves a name with a tongue twister. In maths we have looked at repeated patterns. We have also had great fun with lots of colourful rice.

Year 2
What a fantastic start to our new topic - Britain Needs You! We have begun to learn about World War 2 and how it impacted on children. We have enjoyed writing a diary entry based on the main character of our class novel, The Lion and the Unicorn. In Maths, we have recapped addition and subtraction using a place value chart. The children have had a fun (messy) time creating clay poppies to commemorate Remembrance Sunday.
