PRINCIPAL'S POST
We are off to a great start to the new school year here at Carver Middle High School!
It is great to see the building bustling with staff and students again!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the people that made the start to the school year such a success.
Firstly, to our custodial staff for the tireless work in making the building sparkle and taking the lead on the repurposing of new classrooms and spaces. Your task was truly a daunting one, yet the building has never looked better. Thank you!
Secondly. to our Technology Department for ensuring that every ninth grader was provided with a brand new Chromebook and every student has a working device. This was a huge undertaking and was largely completed within the first week of school! Thank you!
Additionally, to our transportation staff and our food service department. You are the heroes on the front lines everyday providing vital services of getting students to school safely on time and keeping them nourished. Your efforts do not go unnoticed. Thank you!
To our amazing and talented staff, from classroom teachers to Department Chairs, and Education Support staff to school counselors. You are the ones that the students flock to. You are the motivators, the inspirers and the relationship builders that make students feel special, supported and cared for. You make our students dreams and aspirations a reality.
And finally to our office staff, who have to be able to answer any question about school operations from students, parents, teachers, visitors on any variety of topic. Thank you, thank you, thank you! We deeply appreciate your knowledge, efforts, patience and compassion in dealing with everything that comes your way.
A day at Carver Middle High School really is an exercise in teamwork and everyone has an important and pivotal role.
Students, your energy and passion is the heartbeat of our school and I want to recognize how great it is to have you all back in our building. I cannot wait to see what this year brings, both in and out of the classroom.
I would also like to thank parents for entrusting us with the care and education of your children, a responsibility and a privilege that we take very seriously. We will do our very best every day to provide your students with authentic and meaningful learning opportunities designed to challenge your student and trigger academic, personal and social-emotional growth.
In the next edition of Carver Chronicles, I will unveil our theme for the year which we have shared with students during grade level meetings.
Here's to a great year!

crusaders in (and out of) the classroom
Mrs. Bardetti's 8th grade classes honored Welles Remy Crowther, “The Man in the Red Bandanna,” on the 20th anniversary of September 11th. Welles' story has served as a huge inspiration for us to reflect on how we can all #BeABetterYou
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
In Mrs. Cornock's chemistry class, students proved the Law of Conservation of matter and identified indicators of chemical changes.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Mrs. Carter's Academic Workshop class visited Mrs. Bertram in the Library for a Book Tasting. Students were able to visit different tables (genres) of books to find one that they liked to check out.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Mrs. Carter's math classes worked cooperatively in groups to complete the 100 Activity. Students had to highlight the numbers 1 to 100 in consecutive order taking turns. Students were allowed to verbally help their group members, but could not highlight or point to another group member's number.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Mrs. Carter's Block 5 class is taking adding integers to a whole new level with "Adding Integer Mayhem."
Students need to find all 30 questions that are located in 3 different locations.
The catch?
Only one student can get up at a time from each pair. Students must be seated before they can unfold their card to reveal their question. If they already had that card, they must wait for their partner to return before they can get another question.
Let the games begin!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Carver alumni Jason Snow visited virtually to talk to the Journalism and Media Studies class about how to conduct an interview and what it is like to be a professional journalist.
Jason's best tip: Just do it!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Students in Ms. Whalen and Ms. Littleton’s 8th grade science classes are currently learning about genetics and reproduction.
This week, they dissected flowers!
