Yorktown ISD Vision

Our vision is that our students will be prepared academically, socially, intellectually and emotionally for a continually changing world.

Information for All Students

9 Week Exams and End of the 9 Weeks

The first nine weeks ends on October 12. Junior High and High School students will be taking 9 week exams this week. Please encourage your student to study.


Students need to make sure that they have turned in their assignments. Report cards will be mailed on October 17.

October 12 - Pink Walk

YISD walk against cancer will take place on Friday, October 12. Everyone is encouraged to wear pink. Please let us know if you would like us to honor the memory of a loved one by announcing their name. If you are a cancer survivor, please join us in this walk.

October 22 and October 26 - No School!

All staff and students will have a school holiday on October 22. Students will also have a holiday on October 26.

Band

Oct. 12th will be all band night. (6th-12th Grade)

All band students need to report to the band hall by 6:00pm


Oct. 13th: Invitational Band Contest @ Edna Cowboy Stadium

Oct. 20th: Region 12 UIL Band Contest @ Heroes Stadium

Oct. 27th: UIL Area Band Contest @ Gregory Portland Stadium

Nov.5th-6th: UIL State Marching Contest @ Alamo Dome

Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week is a way for people and communities to take a visible stand against drugs and to show their personal commitment to a DRUG-FREE lifestyle through the symbol of the red ribbon.


  • Monday, Oct. 29th---“LIFE IS YOUR JOURNEY---TRAVELDRUG FREE!” (Dress up like a “selfie” of you in your future career)
  • Tuesday, Oct. 30th---“BE A HERO EVERYDAY---BE ALL YOUCAN BE!” (Wear Camo)
  • Wednesday, Oct. 31st---“BE SOMEONE’S HERO---STAND UPTO BULLYING!” (Dress like your favorite SUPERHERO)
  • Thursday, Nov. 1st---“MY FUTURE IS BRIGHT--- #DRUG FREE FOR LIFE!” (Wear sunglasses & a hat)
  • Friday, Nov. 2nd - "ANYTHING IS PAWSIBLE" (Wear Black and Gold)

Picture retakes are scheduled for Nov 7th

November 12 - Veterans Day

Yorktown ISD will celebrate our veterans on November 12, 2018. We will have a district wide ceremony. More information will be sent out.

Information for Junior High

From Mrs. Pustka

7th and 8th grade math will have a review on Monday and take the 9 week test on Tuesday.

8th grade speech class must have their persuasive commercial ready to present next week.

October 25 - Junior High Dance

Thursday, October 25th from 7-10... student council is hosting a junior high dance in the junior high gym.

YJHS UIL Saturday, December 15

The District UIL meet for YES and YJHS will take place on Saturday, December 15. Yorktown ISD will be hosting this meet. Junior high students will begin UIL practice this month so that they are ready for our academic meet. As we get closer to the date, more information will be sent out.

Information for High School

October 9 - Class Ring Orders

Herff Jones will be here on Oct 9 during lunch to take class ring orders. This is for Jrs. and Srs. it's not too late for the Srs. to order a ring.

October 10 - PSAT

On October 10, all 10th and 11th grade students will take the PSAT.

October 24 - YHS National Honor Society Induction

NHS Induction will take place at 9:00 on Wednesday, October 24 in the auditorium. All high school students will attend the ceremony.

October 25 - ASVAB

All 10th grade students (and any 11th & 12 graders who would like to retake it) will take the ASVAB on October 25th. We will have an ASVAB info session during 2nd period in the auditorium on October 17.

October 27 - HS Academic UIL Conference

Academic UIL team going to Student Activities Conference, Saturday, October 27 at UT Austin. Students and sponsors have opportunity to learn more about their events(how to prepare, changes in rules, etc.) and meet state directors of their events.

October 29 - FAFSA Application

OCTOBER 29TH

Dayzha Wilson from Victoria College and Mrs. Menn will be in the Computer Lab from 9-3:40 to assist any Senior with their FAFSA and college application. This is a wonderful opportunity for parents to come join the fun and help your child fill out their FAFSA & college application.

*MUST HAVE 2016 TAX RETURN & 2016 IRS W-2 TO INPUT ON THE ONLINE APPLICATION

A Few Reminders

  • Students who do not have Zero Period, may enter the building 8:00 for first period
