CLASSROOM NEWS

STATIONS OF THE CROSS

Special thanks to our 7th Grade students for leading Stations of the Cross this morning in the Gym. This annual tradition reminds our students of Jesus' sacrifice and deep love for us as we anticipate His resurrection on Easter Sunday.

CHRISM MASS

Our 8th Grade students represented ICCS at the Chrism Mass on Wednesday, held at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church. During the Chrism Mass priests, deacons and representatives from the entire diocesan community gathered around Bishop Glenn John Provost, who blessed the Holy Oils for use in the coming year. Holy Oils are used for the Oil of the Sick, Oil of Catechumens and Sacred Chrism. Whenever the Holy Oils are used in the Diocese, the ministry of the Bishop who consecrated them is symbolically present.

GEM MINING

Students in 2nd, 4th, 7th and 8th grades who have been studying land formations, rock layers and minerals found on Earth in their phenomenal science units had the opportunity to participate in a Mobile Mining experience on Tuesday, April 16th at ICCS.

8th GRADE FIELD TRIP

Our 8th Grade Class of 2019 enjoyed a fun and educational field trip last week. Students ventured through the Atchafalaya Basin by airboat learning about the wildlife, vegetation and culture in that region. The group finished out the trip by enjoying delicious food and plenty of Cajun dancing at Pont Breaux's Restaurant in Breaux Bridge, La. A good time was had by all!

CATHEDRAL RENOVATION UDATE

RENOVATION WEEK 15:

The Four Evangelists are now up on the crossing ceiling vaults! The four Evangelists were painted at the Conrad Schmitt Studios in New Berlin, Wisconsin, and shipped to Lake Charles. The symbols received a modeled, grisaille treatment based on Renaissance designs. The images are taken from the prophet Ezekiel's vision in which he saw four winged creatures supporting the throne of God. They had the face of a man, a lion, an ox and an eagle.
