MARK YOUR CALENDARS
For centuries, the month of May has been the special time for honoring Mary, the mother of Jesus. At ICCS, we honor Mary by crowning her with flowers. Our May Crowning will be Friday, May 1, at 8:30 a.m. in the gym. The Rosary Club members will be bringing flowers to Mary that day and will lead our May Crowning ceremony.
The 2018-2019 ICCS Religious Awards ceremony will take place immediately following May Crowning. These awards are for Rosary Club members, altar servers, cantors, musicians and Our Father signers.
Please join us that day in honoring Mary and giving recognition to our students for their service in enhancing the liturgy.
FLOWERS FOR MARY SCHEDULE:
Each class will have a day to bring flowers to Mary:

Wednesday, May 8 – 7A, 7B, Pre-KA & Pre-KB
Thursday, May 9 – 6A & 6B
Tuesday, May 14 – 1A, 1B, 5A, & 5B

Our 8th Grade students represented ICCS at the Chrism Mass on Wednesday, held at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church. During the Chrism Mass priests, deacons and representatives from the entire diocesan community gathered around Bishop Glenn John Provost, who blessed the Holy Oils for use in the coming year. Holy Oils are used for the Oil of the Sick, Oil of Catechumens and Sacred Chrism. Whenever the Holy Oils are used in the Diocese, the ministry of the Bishop who consecrated them is symbolically present.

The Four Evangelists are now up on the crossing ceiling vaults! The four Evangelists were painted at the Conrad Schmitt Studios in New Berlin, Wisconsin, and shipped to Lake Charles. The symbols received a modeled, grisaille treatment based on Renaissance designs. The images are taken from the prophet Ezekiel's vision in which he saw four winged creatures supporting the throne of God. They had the face of a man, a lion, an ox and an eagle.
