Attendance Reminders
Regular and punctual attendance is crucial to your child's success in school. When students arrive late to school, it disrupts classroom instruction and makes it difficult for them to start their day positively.
- If you know your child will be absent or tardy to school, please notify the office by phone 780-7350 or email Report an Absence. If your child will need a school lunch on days they check in late, please notify the office NO LATER than 9:00 a.m.
- Students who are tardy MUST be signed in by the parent.
You will be notified by letter and/or phone call if absences or tardies are excessive. Four tardies count as one unexcused absence. By law, after seven unexcused absences, information will be submitted to the District Attorney's office for truancy. Please help insure your child's success by making sure they are present and on time for school each day!

Library News
We had a total of 269 reading records returned for September. Our goal is to have 2000 records turned in by the end of April. We appreciate your efforts in helping your child turn in their records each month.
This year we are continuing monthly drawings. All students who turn in a completed monthly reading record will be entered into the drawing. One student per classroom will be drawn to receive a special prize from Mrs. Conklin.
Students who have 100% participation for the entire 2018-2019 school year will receive special recognition at the end of the year school-wide awards ceremony.
All October calendars must be returned by November 7th. If you need another copy of your reading log, you can find the current month's copy on the Brougham school website.
Thanks for encouraging your child to read at home!
Thanks for supporting our library during the fall Book Fair!

News from the Health Room
We are coming upon flu season and this may be a good time to review the district policy on illness. Flu shots are now available at your doctor's office and are highly recommended. Please notify the school if your child has been diagnosed with the flu so we can keep track of numbers.
Hearing Screening is scheduled for November 12th. Students in Pre-School through 2nd grade, 5th grade and selected students in 3rd and 4th grade new to the district will be screened.
Thanks for all you do to keep our students healthy here at Brougham. Please feel free to contact me with any health concerns at 780-7356.
