Mr. Corso's Weekly BMMS Message
May 8, 2022
Positive Raiders: Responsible, Respectful, Hard Working and Kind
Thank you BMMS families for your support during our testing week. Our kids have been amazing! They have been working hard and doing their best. In the end, that’s what means most. Thank you also for the wonderful treats donated by our families during Educator Appreciation Week.
This Week’s Positive Message: Tuesday, I read the following to students…Good morning Black Mountain. When I was a high school teacher, one of my favorite stories to teach was The Crucible play by Arthur Miller. In the play, the main character John Proctor is accused of doing witchcraft. He is asked to sign a confession saying that he was a witch. Proctor protests signing his name and states the reason why is, “Because it is my name! Because I cannot have another in my life! Because I lie and sign myself to lies! How may I live without my name? I have given you my soul; leave me my name!” Proctor says he won't sign the paper because his name means so much to him. What does your name mean to you? When I sign Scott Corso, it means a lot to me. Signing your name to a paper, a homework assignment, to this week’s tests, to anything means this is who I am. This is my very best. When you test this week, we ask that you do your very best because you are putting your name on it and that should mean something.

End of the Year Activities: We have 5 weeks left of school and students are looking forward to the end of the year activities. Please discuss with your child that even as we get closer to summer, our four core values matter just as much as ever. Continue to be respectful, responsible, hardworking, and kind. Should students make choices during the last 6 weeks, through the last day of school, that results in a suspension or an In-School Suspension, it will affect their opportunities to celebrate with their classmates during their grade’s end of the year activity.
