Alabama Posters
Reading
Good readers can tell the difference between fiction and non-fiction text. They choose each for a different purpose. This week we will begin sorting books into categories according to fiction and non-fiction features.
This week we will spell and read words with the long e spelled ee, ea, e, and e_e. Please continue to review the phonics study guide that came home last week. A test will be given this week.
Writing
We will begin writing non-fiction pieces. We are learning how to pick out important facts.
This week our language skill will be a review nouns, verbs, and adjectives. We will be using our read aloud books to help with identifying these parts of speech.
Math
We will be making ten when one addend is 8 and counting on to solve addition problems. Keep practicing those addition and subtraction facts up to ten. Knowing them fluently will help us tremendously!
Social Sciences
We will be wrapping up our study of Alabama. Ask your child to show you the square dance we learned today, The Opossum Stomp. Precious!
