Dear Sturgeon High School Families,
Happy 2021, everyone!

Grade Level Information
Class of 2021
During 2nd semester I will continue to meet with each Senior to discuss post-secondary planning and help support them through making this transition out of high school. I emailed each student at the end of 1st semester for an update about their college and career planning process.
This semester I plan to visit each grade to work on Missouri Connections. Each student has a username and password. During these class meetings I will have them explore interests, career clusters, occupations, schools, and learn more about the cost of living. I look forward to helping them explore their interests and turn those interests into real-life plans.
Please continue to look for new scholarships added to the Google Sheet. I will receive many new scholarships, including local scholarships, during the 2nd semester. Encourage your student to apply for scholarships to help financially with continuing their education after high school.
Also, if your student is interested in retaking the ACT, please see the link below for registration dates and deadlines. Some schools are test optional, but it is helpful to check with specific schools to see about requirements.
It is also important to keep track of any deadlines specific to schools your student may apply to or have applied to already.
Once final grades for Semester 1 are calculated, I will send out A+ Scholarship Program progress letters to each student discussing each student's GPA, attendance, and other A+ eligibility information. If your student is unsure about eligibility, please reach out and I am happy to discuss this.
If your student is needing additional help with academic and career planning, please let me know.
Please complete the FAFSA with your student. For more information about the FAFSA, see the link below.

Next year students who are interested and meet requirements can attend Moberly Area Technical Center (MATC) during their 11th and 12th grade year. Typically a recruiter from MATC would show the students a presentation, but due to COVID restrictions, they will be sending out a recorded presentation I will share with the students. I will send updated information for this as I receive it.

Dual Credit Students
I have met with Dual Credit MACC Students. Students have received their book list information and enrollment packets. If your student is dual credit online, they have received their login information, too.
Second semester courses with MACC begin on January 12, 2021.
Enrollment for 2nd semester dual credit classes with MACC will be on January 13, 2021. This will be held via zoom at the high school. Once your student has completed their enrollment form, they can leave it in my office or hold onto it until January 13 when MACC will complete enrollment. Please fill out the enrollment sheet entirely.
As a reminder, if your student is taking College Math in-seat or College Human Anatomy in-seat at Sturgeon, they do not need to re-enroll for these courses. These are year long courses that they have already enrolled in and paid for at the beginning of the year.
For a copy of the book list and course offerings for 2nd semester, see the links below.
If you have questions about Dual Credit or enrollment, please send me an email.
