About the Newsletter
The Madison-Oneida BOCES Staff and Curriculum Development Newsletter is a platform that we use to provide you with curated resources, things to know, tools to use, and ideas to explore.
If we share them, it's because we have looked at them and we think they might be worthy of your limited time! Click on the things that you think will help you and skip the things that won't.
And remember, we are here if you need us!

UP AND COMING
The Science of Reading: What Is It All About?
Why do so many students struggle with reading? About 50% of students will learn to read no matter what approach we use, but it is possible to get 85% of our students to read by the end of 2nd grade! This introduction to the science of reading emphasizes what 40 years of research has confirmed: certain “ingredients” must be prioritized, explicitly taught, and specifically practiced at the primary level in order for students to lift the words off the page. As a result, students continue reading on grade level or above with each successive year. This is the undisputed science behind learning how to read.
Join us on the afternoon of December 8th to learn more!
