Fifth Grade Newsletter
May 8, 2016
Dear Parents:
We hope you and your family enjoyed a great Mother's Day together.
Here's what's happening at school this week.
Art Show
Art Show is fast approaching. It is so exciting to see the building taken over with student art. Opening night is Thursday, May 12th. If you would like to help with set up on the 10th or 11th, please give Mrs. Smith a call or email csmith@rayder.net. Thank you
NWEA Testing
The NWEA tests are scheduled for this week, May 10 and 11. Students will be taking the reading and math portions of the test in the morning.
English
We will continue reading Woods Runner this week and talking about how it relates to the Revolutionary War. The students wrote wonderful "I Am" poems about a person from the Revolutionary War time period last week. We will be sharing them this week.
Social Studies
We are currently talking about the events that led to the Revolutionary War! It is fun analyzing the words of the songs from our play and how they fit into the history of our country!
Math
This week students will continue to work with multiplication of fractions. Also, they will be taking the Spring NWEA test. After students get more practice with multiplying fractions, they will work on division with fractions and whole numbers.
Science
We will continue to look at the Atmosphere. There will be no homework this week.
13 Colonies Musical
Thank you so much for all your support with the 13 Colonies show. We sincerely appreciate all your help and hope you enjoyed the show as much as we did.
