S'more Thinking = S'more Learning...at Grandview!
Honor the Past, Nurture the Present, Prepare for the Future!
Dear Families,
Tonight at 5:00PM is our gym takeover! C'mon up for some Grandview fun before the break!
We welcomed 28 new Mustangs at Kindergarten Round-up this week! Please continue to get the word out that we are accepting students for the fall. They can call the office and we will help them with what they need.
There is NO SCHOOL tomorrow, Friday, March 30. School resumes Monday, April 9. The Grandview family wishes you an awesome Spring Break and Happy Easter. Enjoy those you love!
When we return, we will begin the MStep testing in Grades 3-5. I will have an entire section in this Thursday's Messenger dedicated to this.
Thank you for sending your greatest gift to us - your children. GO MUSTANGS!
In Partnership,
Michelle Barsh and staff

Parents of 5th Graders!!
INCOMING 6TH GRADE ORIENTATION
6th Grade Orientation will take place on Monday, May 14 from 6:30 - 7:30 PM. Please meet in the CMS cafeteria at 6:30 for a short parent presentation by Principal Lown. Students will participate in a connector in the gymnasium during the presentation. Students and parents will then have the opportunity to tour the school and to have questions answered by NJHS students, staff, and administration.
5TH/6TH GRADE ACTIVITY NIGHT
Our annual 5th/6th Grade Activity Night is Friday, May 18 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Admission is $4 with a student ID and $5 without a student ID. This is a great opportunity for our incoming 6th graders to become acquainted with our 6th grade staff, and to have some fun with their new 6th grade classmates from both elementary schools. We hope your child will be able to attend. Parents are welcome to stay, but it is not necessary. Students MUST be picked up promptly at 8:00.

Spring Clean-Up
While it may not feel that way, Spring is here and we’re already seeing signs of it. Birds are starting to sing & flowers are starting to poke through the ground. Along with the lovely and welcome flowers, the unwelcome and dreaded weeds are poking through as well. Please get your gardening tools and green thumbs ready for our Spring Clean-Up! We will chose and announce a date when we are more confident in the weather.
Shoparoo
Way to go Grandview! We’re almost at 75,000 Roo Points! Our next major milestone goal is 100,000 Roo Points ($200)! Keep shopping & scanning, we’ll hit 100,000 in no time!
You don’t have Shoparoo? It’s easy, just grab your phone, download the FREE app, scan your receipts & watch the Roo Points add up! Remember, every receipt counts towards Roo Points or contest entries. Don’t forget to ask family & friends to Shoparoo too! You do not need a child at Grandview to participate. Grama, Grandpa, Aunts & Uncles can Shoparoo to benefit Grandview! If you have any questions, please contact Stacey Wittscheck, (586) 222-3641.
Popcorn Friday’s
Good things come to those who wait… Unfortunately that's true for our delicious popcorn. With Spring Break beginning tomorrow, we will have to wait until we return to school for our next Popcorn Friday.
Remember, popcorn is only $0.50/bag!
Spirit Wear
If you would like to order Spirit wear, please let ANY FOG member know, or watch for an order form to be sent home. Order forms will only be sent home if/when we have a large enough order & we’re confident that our supplier can fill the order in a timely manner.
Please don’t forget to like & follow us on Facebook!
GRANDVIEW HIGHLIGHTS!
Each month, we meet as a school community and learn a new character trait.
April focus = Integrity
Ask you child!
Mustang of the Week/Mustang of the Month
Teachers are choosing a student each week to honor!! Students are chosen based on teacher recommendation: student progress, effort, improvement, character, grit, citizenship, and more.
Principal's Breakfast
Mustangs of the Week are invited to the Mustang of the Month Principal's Breakfast!
We have honored 230 plus students this year!
Horseshoe Heroes
Students are working on living the character trait of the month. When students live their trait, teachers are catching them being a 'Horseshoe Hero' and are rewarding with a sticker on their individual horseshoe. When the students fill their horseshoe with the lucky number of 13 stickers, they are honored as a 'Horseshoe Hero' at the next Mustang Assembly.
